Beer in Husky Stadium

Is the bathroom situation a real argument? Is so, that's beyond asinine. Is there any kind of study that shows that people who drink beer in the stadium are going to pee more than people who either only drink water or soda in the stadium, and also will need to pee more than people who drink beer outside the stadium but then come back into the stadium and use the bathroom???

I don't drink so I couldn't care less about selling beer in the stadium, however if it means that most people would have their butts in their seats at the start of the third quarter, then I'm all for it.

I don't think it's cited as much as it was 10 years ago, but the bathroom situation was definitely one of the top "reasons" back then. Liability was another good one as if they didn't allow people to shotgun Silver Bullets and guzzle whiskey from the bottle in the school owned parking lot before/during/after the game.

I fully support beer sales in the stadium, but there are large and real logistical issues at WaGriz, not the least of which IS the lack of bathrooms. That can be alleviated with the addition of portapotties. But the concern there, of course, is that anyone who has walked through a concourse during a game knows there's hardly enough room now to walk now. Throw in 40 pissers taking up space, plus the lines that would develop and extend out into the walkway and you'll soon have complete hallway gridlock.

Certainly liability is a legit concern, but that can be overcome and has in stadiums nationwide. So, the beer can and should be sold, but it's just not as easy as pulling the tap.

One would think we could get the people in charge to figure out a solution; I can't co-assistant manage this Taco Bell AND solve the issues with serving beer in WGS.

Curious. Just when did this 'stay at the tailgates until the middle of the third period' shit begin? I was a NEZ Crazy up thru '09 but didn't pay too much attention to it. I know it was alive and well after Bobby left. Those thriller days of Delaney and Stitt certainly slowed the return of the 'beered-up faithful.'

I thought my interest in watching the game may have obscured the overwhelmingly obvious sight of this growing mass of aluminum on the sidelines, especially noted in the high priced mid-field seats. I really didn't notice until I watched the games on TV after 2009, when available in my area. Mick and Gurns noticed and weren't shy about calling a spade a spade to the radio 'viewers.'

My dad had cousins in Alberta, which we visited ONCE. Sitting in the living room, he was offered a beer. His cousin went to the closet and grabbed a couple of warm ones. :lol: Only time in my life I saw dad nurse a beer. Only a couple hundred miles apart, physically, but the culture difference was....subtle.

I have never heard of a Canadian drinking warm beer so I'm guessing this is more of a genetic thing than a cultural thing. :lol:

Hell, Sask, I wasn't even in my teens when that went down, well before your time. Been to Alberta several times and it was always cold beer. I wondered why anyone would keep beer in the closet. You might ask some if the older folks about room temp beer. True story, though, I seen it.
My best guess is thus guy was just saying 'hit the road, Yank' in a subtle way. Truth is, my old man was an asshole. Got to admit, that is my inheritance. That IS genetic. True story, though.

Pre-sell beer tickets at the pregame tailgates. Start redeeming beer tickets at 5:00 minute mark of second quarter so people have a fresh cold one in hand when halftime hits. Have a few locations in the concourses, but also employ vendors roaming the stands. For vendor delivery, a minimum $1 tip/beer required (said vendor, a physically fit but poor college student, could probably rake in at least a couple hundred per game). Beer ticket redemptions are cutoff at 10:00 minute mark of fourth quarter.
