The "cue" was actually for people like you. He apparently had some alcohol/pill issues in college, or developed them. If he has chemical dependency issues now, let's crucify him in the press and on the internet. That surely will help--or at least make people like you feel better about yourself. Let's lock him up, and help keep our state taxes high.
If I recall correctly, his alcohol consumption was an intricate part of his "guilty but don't be too hard on me because I'm not really a douche bag rapist" defense. Drinking while on parole was incredibly stupid. Drinking in public while on parole is beyond stupid, and might well be characterized as the big middle finger to law enforcement, his victim and the public. There comes a time that no matter how fond you are of someone who is sweet and lovable in second grade, you accept that just maybe they've grown up to be a complete amoral douche bag. The guy got out early promising he wouldn't do this. I have no sympathy or empathy for him, and wouldn't be surprised if the presiding judge doesn't as well. And I'm sure he's well aware of what the papers will say about his former sports relationship if he got in trouble for any reason.

it's a money game. There are people that profit off of prisons jails and incarcerations. A large number of them. They give kickbacks to officials to keep it a revolving door. Chemical Dependency is the strong point. 6/10 will end up back in jail. Also they are the most likely to be paroled or placed on probation. Why? To keep the revolving door going to keep the prisons full.PlayerRep said:"Overall crime in Montana is at its lowest since 2000, declining 18 percent through 2014, although the rate of violent crime has remained fairly constant and has ticked up slightly.
Despite the drop in crime, arrests increased 12 percent from fiscal 2009 through fiscal 2015.
The biggest increases in arrests are for drug-related crimes or for violating probation, parole and failure to appear in court. Arrests for the latter categories more than doubled the past six years.
Montana’s jail incarceration rate jumped 67 percent from 2011-2013 – 10 times or more than the rate of increase in neighboring states."

Donaldson didn't provide a defense. He pled guilty. Why do you have to make up stuff like that? Talk about a douche. Look in the mirror.
Here's the thing, how long has it been since Joe Obrien got busted for selling meth? He's still called a former Bobcat coach. Do you think he should just be Joe Obrien at this point?Gaeilge1 said:This is exactly the point that PR was making in the previous thread. There is no reason 6 years after the fact for the Missoulian to be highlighting the fact that he was a football player at UM.
A simple "Beau Donaldson arrested in Bozeman on a parole violation.", would suffice. Those who are interested would get all the facts necessary without needing to know he was an " Ex-Griz" football player.
For that matter, would this even make the news if he weren't an ex-griz football player!?
All I want to know is...is your daughter or any of her friends single and would you give your blessing to her datin...no marrying a bobcat fan....i could be a kept man.....lol.PlayerRep said:Ursa Major said:PlayerRep said:Ursus1 said:On parole and goes to a bar! Didn't you mention your daughter's going to be in town with a bunch of coeds this week? Why don't you reach out to Beau and see if he needs a couch to crash on for the next couple weeks. Don't forget to give him the keys to the liquor cabinet :thumb:
Yup, a dozen Stanford law friends (most of whom will be starting out at $180,000 a year at their firms this fall). How does that compare to your income? Lol. My daughter knows Beau. Same class in high school. Our family knows Beau. You got any problem with that?

I looked in the mirror and in the papers . So defense attorney extraordinaire Datsopolous did nothing throughout the case (made no arguments, discussed no facts of the evening, researched no law, talked to no witnesses, reviewed no evidence) in investigation, at omnibus, through motions and negotiations, and culminating in sentencing and initial parole hearing that can be described as providing a defense? Right.
I found dozens of articles just typing in his name, some implying or even explaining how Beau thought he was being treated too harshly with his sentence, and although confessing to raping her on tape, later blamed the victim calling the rape a "hookup". First class douche by anybody's definition.
Nice try, but somebody sure has their blinders on too tight on this one, and it sure as hell isn't me.

I think they are glad that he may be having more problems. It miat make them feel better about themselves. I am still pulling for the "kid" to pull his life back together and hope he is over the apparent chemical dependency issues he had. I hope the woman is doing well too.

You, horribilis are a liar. Feel free to show you articles/quotes where Donaldson said anything. He said nothing that I'm aware of.
Neither Donaldson nor his lawyer said it was a hookup. Liar, liar. The woman was his childhood/grade school friend.
He didn't confess to raping her on tape.
Milt saying he was being treated too harshly, actually that his sentence was more than all most anyone in his situation ever got in MT, has nothing to do what you said.
I have always thought you were an idiot. Now I know you are dishonest too.
In my view, you are more despicable than Donaldson. You are truly despicable.

Donaldson was arrested earlier this year for allegedly raping a friend, at her home, in September 2010. He originally pleaded not guilty to charge, but after discussions between his attorney and the county prosecutors, Donaldson changed his plea.
At that time, court documents detailed a phone conversation where Donaldson confessed to the woman he had raped her.
After the court hearing Tuesday, Deputy County Attorney Shaun Donovan said he plans to recommend a 30 sentence with 20 suspended in the Montana State Prison. Because of the plea agreement, the state can't recommend a higher sentence than that.
"That's the bargained for amount," said Donovan.
Donaldson's attorney Milt Datsopoulos will have the opportunity to argue for a lesser sentence. Dotsopoulos said he doesn't think prison is the answer for Donaldson.
"A lot of what will happen will depend on what Beau's life's been like, what's he accomplished, what problems he's had," said Datsopoulos.
While he can ask for the lower sentence Datsopoulos worries Donaldson will get a tougher sentence. For one simple reason: Three investigations into allegations the university, the prosecutor and the police mishandled sex assault investigations.
"That pollution concerns me, that it will slop over to my client," he said.
Donovan agrees it's a valid point. But trusts that the judicial process will play out as it should.
"I don't think that's completely far fetched. But we don't want that to happen," Donovan said.
In fact Donovan took some time to research other cases before deciding on a recommendation.
According to Montana Department of Corrections, from 2001 until now 72 people in Missoula County have been sentenced for sexual intercourse without consent,
The average prison time is 25 years, and over half of those sentenced went to prison, but had some time suspended.

Donaldson had initially denied the rape charge, but changed his plea to guilty after in a recorded phone call with the victim, he confessed to the rape. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 20 years suspended.

On the other side was Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, who spoke on behalf of the victim. She acknowledged Donaldson's success with sex offender treatment, but voiced other concerns.
"His accountability and his acceptance of personal responsibility has wavered," said Pabst.
Pabst says he sometimes blamed the victim and that he described the crime as a hook-up. What also troubled Pabst is what Donaldson might do in the future.
