Okay, so what are the keys tonight?

Obviously, first and foremost, the Griz must shoot the ball better, particularly from the outside. They need to hit a few early to get some confidence. It was clear in the ewoo game that there was no confidence from 3-land, which led them to "think" about it too much when they got an open look, rather than trusting their muscle memory to allow them to jump up and shoot it in.

But what else? Contain Bamforth? Better rebounding, particularly on the D-end? Take care of the basketball?

What are your thoughts?

Excellent post Everett--also NEED to get the Big Guy (BQ) rolling early & often. More movement on offense when in the half-court spread aslo--way too much of a pedestrian approach in those situations in recent games!

GO GRIZ!

Completely agree with your comment about movement on offense, and along those same lines: spacing. The Griz tend to get bunched together making it too easy to defend them and for players to easily double down on BQ without risking someone being open.

Keeping their Sharp-Shooters in check will be the big deal. If Cherry is back to normal I think the Griz have a great chance at that. Perimiter D will be huge.

A healthy Will Cherry. The kid's been playing in pain (less than 100%) since early January. I'm hoping the 10-day break has allowed his wheels to heal. If so, he'll push the envelope early & often... I don't think there's a Wildcat defender who can stay with a healthy WC... and that'll open things up on the low blocks, particularly if the Cats have to switch over to man D early in the game. If the Griz force the Cats to play man-on early enough, BQ will break loose.

Also very important is to stay out of foul trouble. Good help D and spacing go along with that. Hope to watch them on ESPN2 against Northern whichever.

Spot on PR about keeping those shooters in check--REALLY key!

This game is gonna be huge, this rivalry is always fun to watch, Im predicting Scottie B and K-Bull have big games and Weber and Montana go down to the wire in a 72-67 Weber State victory. Weber must contain the inside and make Montana shoot to beat them if they want any chance to win this game. BQ and Selvig and Cherry are monsters, Weber will have thier hands full.

Im really interested to watch these teams on a nuetral court after both teams had not so great road games against each other.

Lets go Weber its time to scratch and snarl and show how you rate for you are Weber State Weber State GREAT GREAT GREAT GO WILDCATS

Love your enthusiasm Wildcat--matches up with our Griz. Should be an oustanding contest.
GO GRIZ!!

I think the key will be how well the Griz attack of the pick and roll late in the shot clock. Montana loves to pick and roll with Cherry late in the clock and Weber likes to hedge out on the screens and that got them into trouble against Eastern. If Cherry can attack the pick and roll with Qvale or the pick and pop with Selvig I anticipate Montana will get good shots late in the shot clock which will be the difference.

On the other end of the floor, I think keeping the perimeter contained is most important for Montana. Bamforth seems to get discouraged if you keep him and the others relatively quiet. If Bullinger and Hughey hit a couple though, the entire team, especially Bamforth, really start to fill it up.

The key is for Montana (especially Selvig), to not hesitate when they get the open look for a 3, and shoot with confidence. In addition, we have to rebound well and avoid giving Weber lots of second chances.
