Seems to be very questionable and 1/2 yard to 1 yard short too often. Or is it just me thinking this?

Ball spotting was dog ass today. Several times during the game it was obvious that the 1st downs were made by the line or a yard past, but the ball was spotted a yard behind the line

Thought the same thing….at least 3 horrible spots that seemed to be a full yard short

I agree. Several. Two by ref on CP sideline. Our raceiver had the first down before he was pushed back and out. Gillman had a first on a 4th down play, from where I sat. I saw a couple others too.
But overall, I thought the refs did a good job and let them play. They could have called D PI on CP against UM receivers a few times, but I'm okay with "let em play".

As soon as I saw who the head ref was, I knew we were in for a long day of sh!tty calls.

How he is wearing the white hat is baffling. Didn’t throw the flag on face mask right in front of him and took him forever whenever there was a penalty to figure out what the other officials called and announce it.

This is something I have been noticing at least for the last 3 games (Starting against Idaho). I can’t recall having any regular issue with the spotting last season.

I can't remember which game I started to notice. Definitely noticeable this season.
These guys have consistently been the worst officiating crew in the conference for years. They’re the ones that got suspended a few years ago when they screwed Eastern out of a win in the Kibbie Dome when they nailed a game winning kick but called it no good. I believe they made some mistake in an Idaho State game last year too. I cringe every time I see them doing one of our games. Hopefully this is the only time we see them.
The bsc brass should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Too busy counting their huge cash hauls while trying to get 17 cameras at psu's high school stadium though, I suppose.

I want to say I saw one or two during CWU, maybe one during UND and then it increased drastically as we entered conference play.
Like Jordan said, the ball spotting has been off since the Idaho game. Embarrassing.
Theres been a couple times where I was wondering why the coaches aren't challenging some of these spots, especially when they should have been first downs.

there was the catch out of the backfield on 3rd and long where Gilman clearly got the first down, but they marked it short and then on the fourth and one he got the first down again and they marked short again. I had a good view of it live, and then I watched it again on YouTube and he clearly got the first down in both instances .
Is the spot challengable?

That one sequence where the Griz clearly got a first down, line judge signaled first down, chains started moving, and then the head ref said “nun uh” and put us back at 4th and 1 was just baffling
If the replay officials don’t stop the game to review a call, a coach's challenge is permitted. The Big Sky had just a handful of coach's challenges last season, but most of them were when Big Sky teams played on the road against FBS opponents in games officiated by FBS officials.
