Dude, give it a rest. Might want to take a break during the latest Hauck era.

+1

AZ, man have you ever considered pursuing a hobby (other than e-griz)?

And maybe this was the year Semore finally broke through. We'll never know though will we. ;)

I think he had enough chances. When you lose to the cats two years in a row while they use the exact same blueprint to beat you twice, your time is up. I'm ready to move on.

No, they attempted almost twice as many passes from 9 to 15. You can’t gameplay for that. Nobody would have seen that coming.

Come on the kid is gone let him rest in peace, well sort of , the 3rd and 31 blitz will live forever.

I still cant go over his inept play calling on easily dependable downs....I bet teams were 80% on us last year on 3rd & 20+ plays....

It was a bold prediction and you were close. Here’s the results.

MSU 1/2
UNC 0/0
NAU 0/1
WSU 0/1
UND 0/1
ISU 0/0
PSU 0/1
EWU 1/1
Sav St 0/4
UW 0/0
UV 0/0
Total 2/11=18%

From 15 or even 10 was still pretty decent too. I didn’t get the numbers but I’m gonna go over em again.

I don't think 80 but there is no doubt in my mind they were better than 50%. I count 3rd and forever leading to a manageable 4th down and subsequent conversion. If it's not 50 or better, my Caveat is that the 2 cupcakes are removed and it's only against better competition. Anyone up to the challenge of research?
Back to the actual topic. I'm an anti Baer guy as I've said numerous times. It's because I look at statistics and trends. Statistically and trending are both crap the last handful of years. Would I take Baer vs Arnett probably not. Arnett would bring new blood and is different than Semore in that he's coming from FBS and from a decent defense. Again, my hope is that the cumulative abilities and gameplanning help to minimize the problems with statistics and trends.

2/7 as Savannah doesn't count as they were crap. 29%. Still too high...3 out of every 10 times teams do well? Sure seemed more than twice that happened...more like 4 or 5. Either way. Thanks for checking that!

Here’s a breakdown of 10+, 15+, and 20+. Damn you Doc for the new challenge. I’ll get back to you. I know MSU has a 3rd and 33 that they turned into a 4th and 5 that they converted.

One interesting note. Our two worst games vs UNC and ISU they were a combined 8/15 so there’s that.

MSU
+10 1/5
+15 0/0
+20 1/2
UNC
+10 5/9
+15 0/1
+20 0/0

I asked a UNLV fan and current high school football coach about Baer. He said that he wasn't impressed and generally thought they were unprepared with schemes. But he did conclude that he would be working for a college level coach and not a high school coach. It's second hand information but thought it was interesting.

If I'm not mistaken, Semore had some FBS experience at Okla St, and then was a DC at school of mines. So technically he had FBS experience and more actual DC experience than an Arnett would. I think BadLands is on to something when he said Bobby is bringing in coordinators and coaches with plenty of experience who he won't have to babysit. This helps emininate learning curves which we can't afford right now, in my humble opinion.

Yes, I hesitated writing that because, yes, he was a GA at OSU. As the postings have shown, it was a high risk/high reward defense and was based on the "get the ball back to the offense one way or another" mantra. I'd actually like a solid defense and very good offense, eventually evolving to very good and very good. I'll take whatever at this point. Just want football to start.

Baer for sure. Nothing screams “we want to win now” more than hiring a DC who’s defenses produced worse numbers than the guy who just got fired.
.

Yes, however, Baer has a job, Semore does not, how would explain that.

A fold in the time/space continuum? :?

Is that a requirement to bitch? If so, we certainly all wasted a LOT of time complaining about Stitt and Semore, huh?

Look, Semore was terrible and I'm glad he's gone. I just am uncertain that Baer will be much of an upgrade (although I do agree we likely don't see house calls on 3rd and 33).

It will be interesting to see the lack of heads exploding on here after the first poor defensive performance.

No requirement at all, just a simple question. I don't know a lot of the people on this board hiding behind a screen name of who or what they do or did.
