Badgers Bo Ryan a big Boner

That is BS to do that to any player...but to do that to a player who sat the bench the complete last season is absolutely wrong!

He asks for a commitment for a commitment.. He's not Calipari and can't afford to pay the one-and-domes. He actually has to *gasp* develop talent in the Big Ten. A butt hurt player transferring hot a butt hurt response. Who cares

By most accounts, Bo is a really good guy. In this situation, it really sounds
like he allowed his personal feelings to overrule logic and has made a big PR mistake.

I don't necessarily see anything wrong with this. Lots of other colleges out there. In fact, I know of a really good school in Bozeman who could use some serious help on the hardwood.

I think he's exhausted his high school eligibility.

Just read an update that said they agreed that he can transfer anywhere out of the big 10 now. At least it's a compromise.

wbtfg....you are correct..there are lots of good colleges out there. The one in Bozeman isn't on the list.

If anybody on this board had any idea how college basketball works, then everybody would realize Bo Ryan did exactly what every other coach in America would have done. The issue isn't transferring, the issue is TAMPERING. From what I have heard Ryan said no to the Big Ten for obvious reasons, then said no to the ACC because there were schools contacting the kid before they were allowed to do so. Instead of calling out individual schools, Ryan blocked the whole conference so he didn't have to single out those schools. That was the right thing to do and every coach would do the same under those circumstances.

Just another example of the indentured servant approach that college athletics employs. It's okay for John L. Smith to never coach a game at Weber State and leave for Arkansas after spring football, but a little used student athlete who wants to move on has to beg his coach for permission to go to the school of his choice. Total crap.

Some day, high school athletes will get smart and refuse to sign letters of intent. They can sign a financial aid agreement instead and have no transfer restrictions. In the mean time, coaches like Bo Ryan continue to give college athletics a bad name.

Are you sure he didn't ask permission from Weber first?

exactly right. Mark Few said he would do the same thing if he thought a team was tampering.
