Bad Reports Coming out of Greeley

MT Jack said:
@ zengriz - You are an artiste. You should start marketing your Griz-based poetry for the Griz faithful. Really...I think I enjoy your posts more than anyone else here.

@ playerrep - About 5-10 students went out of their way to talk shiznit when I was in Missoula for basketball (NAU won once and lost the other time) and football (Griz won big that day). Does that make your overall fanbase worthy of a reprimand? Cripes, I hope not. Based on much of the discourse here, I'd say a lot of egrizzers don't represent their alma mater/school in a positive light each and every outing either. If a few screamed "F.U.'s" offend your sensibilities, then I suggest going over the Griz student section during football games and policing the booze-fueled hordes there first.

The reports I heard were that it was the worst they'd ever seen or experienced, and worse than Cat-Griz in prior years when it had gotten bad for awhile. Why is it so hard for some of you to accept that a number of Griz people thought the overall treatment in Greeley was terrible? Were you there when these fans were getting it? I believe these people because I know them. They weren't making things up. NAUposter, did any of our fans try to pick a fight with a senior NAU administrator on that trip?

....come on Player..first you talk about bad refs, now bad fans. We got beat..accept it.

Almost everyone was talking about bad refs. Are you saying you thought the refs were good? I bet you didn't even watch the game. Are calling Mick Holien a liar? Yes, the UNC fans were horrible. Numerous reports. Why can't you accept that these things have nothing to do with a loss?

Bad Refs, Bad Refs
Whatcha gonna do when they blow it on you,
Bad Refs........

I guess it's about as hard to accept as you accepting the fact that me and the other 7 Griz fans who were with me in Flagstaff saw a Griz player give the the finger to a loud-mouth NAU fan.. Of course, your "inside sources" said it didn't happen, but we were about 20 feet from it, and my eyes are still pretty damned good.

Why don't you stop embarrassing the Griz fan base around the conference with your incessant whining? We lost. They won. Get over it!

PR......I cannot attest to anyone's experience, but my own. I have been to Greeley for the last 2 football games (2008 and 2010). I have been to every basketball game the last 3 years, and the BSC tourney this year. Each time, I proudly sported my GRIZ gear. The only partially negative I had was at the football game in 2010.

Just one cocky college student, pregame drunk off his ass, telling me and every GRIZ fan he saw, "GRIZ SUCK!" I responded "what is your record against us?" He told me to "f off", then his buddies came to me, apologized for him, and wished the GRIZ luck. (sounds pretty typical college BS to me).

If there were ever a fan that could have gotten into trouble at UNC basketball games, it would be me. Every game, at some point of the games I have yelled innocent things from the stands in hopes to rattle their FT shooters (except Beitzel, you cannot rattle him at the line). Yeah, I got a few dirty looks. During, and after the game(s) UNC fans exchanged good old fashioned banter with me. As the game concluded, or shortly there after, countless UNC fans shook my hand, and told me "good game". Not one of their fans disrespected me.

I am not sure if any UNC fans sitting behind the GRIZ bench, 4 to 6 rows up, read egriz, but if they do, that group was all class, despite me rooting for the GRIZ, and against UNC. That group put up with me and other GRIZ fans very well, and in the end were very good sports.

The only issues I witnessed in that area were minor.
(1) Some UNC fan had a word with Christine Anderson about bumping the seats in front of her. I did not hear what was said, but nothing happened, or got out of hand.

(2) An older UNC fan was constantly getting pissed at the "big" voiced older GRIZ fan that has been notorious for the last 20 years for riding other teams and referees. I do not know the guys name, but know his voice anywhere. The older UNC fan asked me and another GRIZ fan, "what is with that guy?" We explained he has been like that since we were kids, and he means no harm. I heard the old man rambling several times about, but he did nothing more than ramble. Later, that older UNC fan gave me an earful when I got commented on Cherry's 5th foul. Then another UNC fan told him, "give it a break, if that been whistled on us, you would be upset too." That was it.

After the Championship game, I hung around through the championship celebration. Numerous UNC fans again showed great sportsmanship toward me. Many others, asked me who the GRIZ return next year. A few thought I was lying when I told them, everyone is back but Qvale. Cherry is a Sophomore, and Jamar is a Freshman. A few told me "too bad the GRIZ did not have some of UNC's shooting, or to bad UNC did not have Brian Qvale. (they were right, that would have been one great team if we could combine them.)

Sorry, but UNC fans were all class to me.

Thanks for your report. Glad your experience was okay. However, multiple other Griz fans, including guys who travel frequently with the Griz and a senor UM administrator, had bad experiences. I believe there experiences will be reported to various interested officials.

Are you now going to tell us that you thought the officiating was good?

I already commented on that one, and agree it was terrible. The short version of that. Officiating hurt NAU and Montana. I cannot fault UNC for taking advantage of it though. I actually thought throughout a whole game. NAU got screwed more than Montana did. It is what it is, and I hope it is the final straw in getting better officiating from this point forward.

Are you confusing me with Dexter? That's who you've been debating over the NAU incident.

But since you brought it up, my recollection is that multiple people who were there, as well as coaches, refuted what you had said. Previously, you said you were with 4 people. Now it's 7? What gives? You had a bad memory years ago, but now it's much worse. You can't even remember where you had lunch yesterday.

Oh by the way, please tell us again about the conferences you claim to have officiated in. Total BS on your part.

I guess it isn't possible that the coaches and other fans didn't see it, huh? Because you asked them, and they say they did not see it, then it didn't happen in your mind. Right on, dude. Keep living in your fantasy world of self-flagellation.

I won't dignify your petty mind discussing my NCAA officiated career. You're just jealous because you have never done it. You are constantly trying to belittle others so that you may elevate your tremendous ego. I guess that two-room shack without running water caused your bodacious insecurities, right?

In a few years, we'll probably be hearing you talk about your many years as an NBA official. Haha. You have told so many lies that you can't even remember them. I can truly say that it has never been a goal of mine to be a college basketball official.

Perhaps you should admit that you don't know what you're talking about, as usual. My info comes directly from multiple people who had and observed bad experiences in Greeley. These are people I know and trust. It's just a fact that these things occurred. Of course, that doesn't mean that every Griz fan had a bad experience. Spanky, are you acting like this because you're stil sore that you were so wrong on the move up stuff?

So just exactly how old are you? Another fan issues a report, backed up by details, and you feel the need to imply he is stupid or biased. My children quit doing that when they were about 12. Face it, other people experience other things that won't always agree with your perspective. Get over it. There will always be a few isolated incidents. In any sufficiently large sample the bell curve will apply and there will be some at each extreme. If you are unlucky to expirience those at the negative end then sucks to be you -- but it even sucks worse to be them so take heart.

(I misspelled experience so you would have something to crucify me over.)
(Oh and I ended the above sentence with a preposition so I must really be a jerk, right?)

You're welcome to your opinion, but I have already gotten considerable feedback on the subject that indicates otherwise.

So let's assume PR is correct in his assessment that Griz fans, players and officials were treated rudely during their time in Greeley. My question then is: What makes you feel as though you should have been treated any differently? What gives you the right to expect the red carpet treatment when you roll into an opponents backyard? You've been bad-mouthing Northern Colorado for years, and now you want them to like you? Respect you? HA!!!

Listen, for the past several years since UNC has joined the conference, there has been a lot of bad-mouthing on this board about their program. Many egrizzers spewing sh$t about how UNC doesn't belong in the conference, that their program is just bringing the rest of the conference down, snide little comments like calling them NCU (intentionally). Hell, there was a thread on this board pissing and moaning about some sports announcer calling UM, Montana University. Everyone here gets all up in arms about not being called the right thing, and then you expect some other school to like it when you disrespect them? What goes around comes around, brother. Too many people have been looking down on little brother, and then get their panties in a wad when little brother stands up and gives them a black eye. What the hell will you do if they ever get their football program rolling and lay a loss or two on you?!!

We must be reading two different threads. I could swear that people were telling you to STFU about some "friend" of yours who got his/hers/its feelings hurt at an athletic competition between two institutions of higher learning. My bad, I must have misread this quote amongst the other 20 or so.

Well the only way that could EVER happen is if the refs screwed the Griz over.

And so as not to be thought a turncoat: It will take more than a few crappy calls for the Griz to lose to NUC (sic).

Rumor from the voices in my head are that No. Colorado will be forced to forfeit their tourney spot & if the Griz can beat Duquense they will advance to take on SDSU, otherwise Virginia Tech will be the 15 seed.

The NCAA is trying really hard to crack down on meanies & will not tolerate hurt feelings among boosters with over inflated egos.
