Bad Fans

I had a similar thing happen at the airport in DC. I was on a shuttle buss and the person across from me had a bobcat sweatshirt. I asked if he went to msu which he said yes and I replied I had gone to UM. He responded FU and F the Griz. He was a typical bobcat fan.

what did you expect them to say?

You ever walk up to an auburn fan outta the blue and say, “war eagle”?

Thats a dumb convo starter… next time try “hey you going to the game?”

Wow, complaint of a woke, California snowflake. The Bozangeles is strong in this one.

this. this is the norm for them. it's ridiculous and sad.

The systemic racism at MSdUi+ is so real it’s palpable and has been well documented. It’s gotten so bad, some literally fear for their life going to games

Hughes left MSU in part because he no longer wanted to face white supremacism, he said. He was called the “n” word at MSU, saw Nazi propaganda in trash cans on campus, and heard Bobcats at a football game “screaming racial slurs to members of the other team.”

Couldn't even get a simple analogy right.

Both sides have bad fans, hell there's clearly times were fans that mean well fall into a trap and act like jerks too (like me).

This week I had the NAR convention in Anaheim, wore Griz gear there and back, also spent 1/2 a day in Disneyland and wore a Montana Football hoodie there.

Both flights back and forth I crossed paths with a bunch of cat fans. A few wearing MSU stuff, there's be a moment of false disgust and then a smile and wish each other well. In SLC at the bar I met two guys from Helena who were MSU alumni and super cool guys, said they're just fans of Montana kids. They introduced me to an older guy and his wife, apparently this guy played for MSU in the 70's.

In Anaheim b/c of my Griz gear I met a high school teammate of Jimmy Wilson's, and then in Disney I had a young lady run up to me and ask me about the Griz, turns out she's with a group of people that are all family to Junior Bergen.

Headed home, got some fun "go cats" ribbing while waiting in SLC again, but all in fun. Flight in to Missoula, lots of Griz fans - including meeting a pod listener! Sent a joke text to a cat fan friend saying I'm trying to actively glare at anyone in blue and yellow.

I let this week get the best of me as well but honestly 95% of my interactions with Cat fans in "neutral" settings are pretty friendly and usually fun.

The bad fans are the minority, on both sides. I had friends play for MSU, and friends play for UM. Competitive players, but genuinely respectful of their opponents. It's the fever-pitched "crowd mentality" that fuels the bad behavior at the stadiums on game day. I had to warn a "Griz Parent" that if you wear a Griz shirt and support your player in Bozeman that you just might get yelled at and spit on.

If a bobcat fan said go cats while i was wearing a griz shirt, i'd give a freindly laugh/smile and say "they are both looking pretty damn good this year, going to he a heck of a game!" sounds to me like OP was just giving a friendly go griz to fellow montanan expecting some playful comment back or something. the problem is the majority fans on the other side, well, they just suck. they haven't learned quite yet how to behave like winners. (see ESG GCG when winning against random teams). they are bitter and filled with hate. its not just a few of them. most of them.

Look at these grown adults all up in arms I messed up an analogy and think they know best. It’s almost like my screw up proved a point. Look at this thread melt. 11 replies of horrible put downs. Oh the irony!

And we have parents asking dUMb fans not to throw feces on our boys. Crazy how this game works. Some really bad apples come out of the woodwork on this Saturday.

Pathetic...I used to have quarterly meetings in Boise and would always wear a Griz shirt to them, for a lot of reasons...some being former Bronco players were now working in the group. I had to have a box of papers sent to me from the group, and on the top from the Nurse manager was a letter. The letter had bobcat stadium in the background and was typed out to say something like...Dear Dr. AZDoc. Thank you for your 10k donation to the bobcat athletic fund. Please use this enclosed coupon to pick up your amazing bobcat jacket for you to wear on the sidelines of all our home games. It will be so much nicer than that maroon crap you've been wearing...something to that affect. She "signed" it whomever the AD was at the time. Absolutely made me cry laughing. An outstanding random poke. My response...a text congratulating her for one of the funniest things I had seen in a long while. I still actually have that letter hanging up on my board in my other office. I think it's sad that there can't be fun banter like that, instead of butt hurt F you immediately. Just like the ESGGCG garbage at every game home or away.

Not sure where the term( Little Brother) came from?? . However, Maybe at best( The Red Headed Step child) or (Step Brother). or maybe a kid you don't claim. But sure as hell, they are not my brother,, I had a little "Pain in the Butt" brother but would go the the Mat for him any day. Go Brother Griz .

Anyone remember the feces allegedly thrown by griz fans on to cat players coming out of tunnel a couple years ?Let’s keep that to a minimum. Agree?

The narcissism and hypocrisy on egriz is thick. If you think that cat fans are the only bad fans you have your head up your ass. Here are some of my personal examples:1. I have had griz fans physically abuse me twice, once when I was fifth grader walking in the stands of the old bobcat end zone and a griz adult took my hat off my head and threw it in the end zone, luckily for him I was only and fifth grader and didn’t know what to do. 2. The year the cats got piss pounded in Missoula when Desin was our QB, my brother and I were bar hopping after the game wearing our bobcat stuff and we got jumped by 5 college kids right by the courthouse and the only reason we didn’t get beat up was the fact that two bystanders across the street saw it happening and came over and made it a fair fight. Best part about that was the griz fan that started the jump got knocked out cold on the sidewalk, will never forget that. 3. What about the griz players specifically Gratton and Reynolds writing FTC on their tape during the game? Or when the griz team huddles up before kick off and chants FTC while jumping around? 4. What about Babby Bobby taking his nephews hat off his head at a family reunion and pissing on it in front of him and his family. If you don’t think that one is true ask John Hauck, he works for Eide Bailly and lives in Billings. John is Bobby’s cousin.

It goes both ways folks and to think other ways is ridiculous.

Wasn’t alleged, happened 2018 sadly. Know a few player parents who talked about the kids having to deal with it.

Yeah, but what about your cousin's friend's babysitter?

Scary situation with the mob mentality Missoula brings regarding the near assault scenario. I’ve been to a few games in the past and they get really handsy after a few beers. I’m sure it’s mostly the younger crowd.
