Austin Swift?

Anybody know what the deal is with him? He wasn't at the game tonight & don't recall seeing him at the Stanford game. Good follow to the Stanford game tonight. Griz started out slow but picked up the intensity in the 2nd half.

Suspicions confirmed. I know, it was a chilly weeknight, but come on, 3,200 according to Holien? But it seems clear that Griz basketball fans are far more choosy about the quality of competition than are the football fans.

In the KGVO pre-game interview, Krysko talked about Swift getting some playing time in tonight's game. Something must have happened later in the day. Nothing was mentioned in the post-game radio interview with Mick.

Per Mick H on the Miss Valley State broadcast, Austin had food poisoning and missed both the Stanford and Marymount game. He is back and has played in today's game.

One point, one board, one foul.

Anyone know why Swift or none of the other freshmen are redshirting? Seems like there's not much chance of most of them getting a lot of playing time, with 13 on the roster.

I think the reasoning with Van Vliet has to do with Krysko not wanting him to be out of action for 2 years. He missed his senior year in high school due to an injury. Sharp was needed early due to Dlouhy's injury and Chavez's ineligibility, and started some games. I'm not sure regarding Swift. He is extremely versatile and is tremendous defender. It's possible one of them may redshirt next year. That has been done in the past with Riddle and Fasting. The 2 GRIZ seniors are both wings (although Virgil plays some pg too) so I doubt Swift will redshirt next year either. Barring injury, the GRIZ lose no post players and add Gus Chase next year, so I suppose Van Vliet or Sharp could be a redshirt possibilties next season. I would also expect it pretty likely that at least one or both of the freshman incoming guards would redshirt along with the post player from Australia.

Hey thanks. Just thought of another related question. Can Seyfert play next year? Or has he used up all his eligibility?

I think he is done. Krysko talks about Jon's future in terms of him recovering in time to possibly play professionally overseas next year.
