It was pretty clear to me that Choate was taking the program in the right direction. 3 wins over Griz in a row, and playoffs.
I think the verdict is still out. MSU went to the playoffs 4 out of 6 times before Choate took over. In his 3 years they missed the playoffs his first two years and were a bubble team in the third. The cats have yet to beat a playoff team in his three years...
I think he’s a good coach but not sure finishing 5th in the conference in your 3rd year is a stamp of approval. Had the cats lost Saturday, he’d have been on the hot seat
Did Ash beat the Griz 3 years in a row, and every year he coached at MSU? It's much more than making the playoffs. Also note that the Cats went to the playoffs once in Ash's last 3 years. Sorry to have to tell you this. But as an Eagle fan, I suppose you don't know much.
Maybe I don’t know much, I don’t follow the Montana programs nearly as much as I do Eastern. But....I’m just not sold that finishing 7-4 in the big sky in your 3rd year is moving in the right direction. Maybe it is considering how bad they/he was in year 1. It’s almost like you are accepting mediocrity...
Also, had the Griz run it in from the 1/2 yard line this would be an entirety different discussion, correct? 6-5 and three straight non playoff years isn’t moving in the right direction but because a Griz RB fumbled on the 1, it’s a totally different conversation.
agreed...the Bobcat fans would be calling for his head if the last Griz TD was legit..fans are fickle!
