Attendance

Can you blame these folks? The cedar shed is about forty minutes from Iowa City, which that very evening was hosting UI vs. UISU @ Kinnick, a real football facility. The Sunday morning Cedar City Papers had the proposal by an Iowa football player to his girl after the game as more important than the UUNI/Griz game. Shame really, but UNI is always going to be a distant second, even with a top five ranking.
So if I understand this correctly, UNI is to Iowa what the cats are to Montana. My condolences!

Yep...Livingstonnative and I were at the game in Cedar Falls and many locals told us that numerous fans headed on down the pike to Iowa City and many Panther faithful actually got up and left the game at the end of the half to go home or to bars to watch UI and ISU. Great loyalty fanbase.

Went to Huskies vs. Idaho game last weekend in Seattle. Almost invisible Idaho fan base at the game but more surprising to me was the very small UW crowd. Not sure what stadium holds but has to be $60K+......couldn't have been 40K there and huskies a top 10 team right now.

Tickets should be plentiful for Griz/Huskies next fall and I told more than one Husky fan that Maroon and Silver will be much more visible than last weekend's black and gold. I predict 5K to 10K Griz fans at that one.

Griz Nation is real!

I also know that a lot of Panther fans were just chillin' in Cedar Rapids at game time.

Attendance figures and actual pictures of the crowd sometimes don't match up. I am thinking Idaho in particular, but it applies generally. Idaho can hardly give the tickets away, but counts tickets passed out as attendance. Doesn't UM count anyone coming through the gates, including those working the event? Pictures of people in the seats are hard to dispute.

This is from the SFA game. Doesn't look like many empty seats to me.

I don't find it hard to believe that there weren't 73,000 people interested in watching Idaho.

slightly bigger game 90 miles down the road that drew 70,000 thousand people, and many more glued to the tv. by the way uni is the third option in the state not even close to second.

Well perhaps -- much like the undsuers -- if they didn't play in a monster track rally facility, people would consider it real, meaningful football.

Thanks again for all your special attention on a thread about Griz attendance. It's just so "special" of you.
12,346 at UNI.
Man, there were a LOT of empty seats by the time
They scored their second TD....announcers talking about how "loud the crowd was"....lol

It was so quiet, I heard a kid in the stands say, "I love the UNI Panthers, and I couldn't be happier with my decision".

I wonder if that was one of the kids that Big Dog hit with a D cell battery? Sounds like he must have been concussed.

To wrap our conversation & my weekend, let me just say that like Montana does with toys in November, UUNI has a yearly batteries and VHS tape drive that occurred this past Saturday. Coincidence? I think not. So as I entered the stadium with our hosts, I handed over my sleeves of Kirkland D-cells. All but one battery I pinched as I dropped them in the drum.

I'm writing Kent this week to suggest we do the same next September when UUNI shows up @ WaGriz. Bastards.

Didn't realize it seated that many and saw the "posted" attendance at Idaho game was $60K+.......they "posted" several thousand people that never came near the stadium that day. Just kind of odd for UW to be top 10 and have so many no shows.

They're not the Seahawks. This is a fickle sports town. #theyonlyloveuwhenuwin
