...is out, and here are a few highlights (and lowlights):
1.) griz picked to win the big sky, with northern arizona second, eastern washington third, cats seventh;
2.) griz one and done in the ncaa tournament;
3.) all-time ncaa record of conference members is 16-41 (though unless they're going back to ancient history, i'm at a loss to see how big sky teams ever won 16 tournament games;)
4.) rodney stuckey is listed as one of 15 "emerging stars" in the country, but steve sir, who only led the entire nation in three-point field goal percentage, is not listed among the ten best shooters;
5.) nevada's nick physique-less is a first-team all-american, while our own andrew strait, who outplayed him last year at the big dance, does not even make honorable mention, however...
6.) strait is on the big sky all-conference team, but...
7.) stuckey is the "player of the year."

as always, the big sky is condensed into one page, with no more than two paragraphs allotted to each team, so not much in-depth analysis of any team. it's mentioned that tinkle inherits "size, starting experience and talent" on the frontline but that there are "concerns in the backcourt where former backups matt martin and bryan ellis will be asked to shoulder most of the ball-handling duties."

i happened to glance at the fresno state writeup, and couldn't help noticing this: "cleveland (the fresno coach) built a non-conference schedule that should allow his team to gain some confidence early. the bulldogs are hosting a cupcake holiday classic and signed a home-and-home with montana state."
looks like huse has his work cut out for him.

Check out lindy's basketball report...

Far more in love with Montana:

Notes: Top Five JC Forward (Gus chase)

and one of the nations top power forwards #13 Andrew Strait.

Would it be possible to work with other Big Sky conference fan forums such egriz to maybe do our own online bigsky preview? Nothing fancy, just insight from fans from all over the conference. I know there a lot of good posters at Egriz to do our share. I really hate the lack of basketball previews for the Bigsky Conference. I have followed Street and Smiths, Athlon, Sporting news, and Lindys many years now and they all blow off the Bigsky. Is there any other pubs that cover it better?

That is one reason I would like to see the Griz jump to the WAC. Look at what we did to Nevada and just think of what they would say after a regular season in the WAC!!! It would just be nice to see some respect for what the Griz have done.
