Ash

The hair; the triple pleated khakis; the results. I would be lying if I didn't admit I miss him so much that it hurts . . .

Footballscoop states Ash has withdrawn from WIU job. My guess is because he may be after the SUU gig instead.

"withdrawn" is coach-speak for "I know I'm not getting the job and am saving face!"

Maroonandsilver is exactly right on his comment.

Not disagreeing with you as you're probably correct, but I just read Colter's article and it seems WIU is in financial duress and may not have football in the future. It might be that Ash didn't want to have the "he's the guy that killed that program" baggage attached to him if that's what happens.

Didn't Colon also say Ron Ash's MSU job was safe?

Top shelf stuff here:

http://skylinesportsmt.com/ash-candidate-at-suu/

"Nielson sited the budget woes as a primary reason for his move from Macomb to Vermillion."

"The Bobcats posted an overall record of 4-14 against Big Sky rivals Montana and Montana State during Ash’s tenure, including six straight losses beginning in 2013."

No wonder Ash couldn't get it done in Bozeman. He couldn't beat Montana State.

CDA, what is your obsession with msu? Every post you make is about them. Get over yourself and msu! See if you go a couple of post without talking about them in 2016

The guy doesn't even cover the Big Sky correctly. He writes a blog, the equivalent of the TV show,The View. Why should we believe anything he says about a school in another conference?

It's not an obsession. It's just really fun. I'm sure you can agree that that program is a fucking joke. It's like a bunch of seventh graders run it!

BTW, what is a Radier? Is it French?

My new obsession is with anyone who is a fan of the entire FCS. Pick a team already.

He has. It's the Bozeman State Bobcats. He couldn't be more obvious if his name was ShitpondShawn.

WIU announced a list of austerity measures, (sounds familiar) in February of 2015. Their coach, out of the blue, resigns to take the same spot @ SD. So Ash takes an interview, is introduced to some boosters & community folks on Thursday, having not done any homework prior to making the visit to Macomb?

My inside source, not named Couter Numnuz, tells me after having re-read Ash's book, Western decided not to go with the status quo - .500 football. Big blow to everyone involved, but they've made their beds now.

It's fun and easy. Low hanging fruit so to speak. I admire his consistency. Why the hell not?

Doesn't he already have that label from his stint at msu?

From St. George:
The search for Southern Utah University's next head football coach could be coming to a quick end.

Interim head coach and defensive coordinator Demario Warren and offensive coordinator Justin Walterscheid will both interview for the job early next week, a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity told The Spectrum & Daily News, and a Big Sky Conference coaching veteran with a championship-caliber resume is also in the mix.

Former Montana State head coach Rob Ash confirmed to The Spectrum & Daily News on Friday that he was interested in succeeding Ed Lamb, who left last week to accept an assistant head coach position at Brigham Young University, his alma mater.

“I don’t know how much I can divulge, but I can confirm I’m a candidate,” Ash said by phone Friday.

Ash spent nine seasons at Montana State before being fired in November. He had a 70-38 overall record, including a 50-23 mark in Big Sky games, and won three conference titles while leading the Bobcats.

Ash was one of two finalists for Western Illinois University's head coaching vacancy, interviewing and even participating in a public forum on the WIU campus on Thursday.

On Friday morning, however, Footballscoop.com reported that Ash had withdrawn his name from the WIU hiring process.

Former BYU and Navy assistant coach Joe DuPaix also confirmed Friday that he’s a candidate for the SUU job.

DuPaix declined to go into detail about where he was in the hiring process, but said he had spoken with SUU Athletic Director Jason Butikofer about the opening.

DuPaix was a quarterback for the Thunderbirds in 1996-97, and set an NCAA Division I-AA individual rushing record for yards by a quarterback during the 1996 season.

“I’d love the opportunity to go back there,” DuPaix told The Spectrum & Daily News during a phone interview. He coached at Timpanogos High in 2014 but was out of coaching last year.

In addition to three seasons at Navy and two seasons in Provo, DuPaix spent seven years as an assistant at Cal Poly.

While with the Cougars, DuPaix was instrumental in recruiting star running back Jamaal Williams. DuPaix was let go by BYU when Robert Anae replaced Brandon Doman as offensive coordinator and brought in his own offensive coaching staff.

Some SUU coaches have expressed a fear of their fate being similar if an outside hire is made.

The same anonymous source said, “It would be like, ‘Congrats, you won the Big Sky, now you don’t have a job.”

But there is confidence among the coaches, according to the source, that if DuPaix is selected as the new head man he would retain most of the current staff.

A second source who also spoke on the condition of anonymity told The Spectrum & Daily News that Sacramento State offensive coordinator and former SUU assistant Paul Peterson has shown interest in the job and could emerge as a strong candidate.

Former SUU assistant and current Weber State wide receivers coach Fesi Sitake has taken himself out of consideration for the job, according to both sources.

SUU will conduct its interviews for the head coaching position in Denver and hopes to make a hire by Jan. 12, the first source said.
