The Best Player In The Northwest Without an Offer; Reiley Henderson
April 18, 2012 by Jordan Johnson

Don' t take it from me, ask anyone who's seen Reiley Henderson play and they all say the same thing. How does that kid not have an offer? A few weeks back in Las Vegas at the National 7 on 7 tournament Keyshawn Johnson walked up to me and said "who's that?" Referencing Reiley. I told him his name and he asked 'Whats he do?"
I said, "lock people up".

Reiley was an absolute assassin in Vegas and may have been the most impressive player on either team not named Deshawn Stephens. Taylor Barton says. "the kids for real and now we see it week after week, he doesn't pass the eye test at first but he's a phenomenal football player and an unquestioned D1 DB". This coming from a guy who does not freely just give out that type of praise.

NEI and Barton Football's Washington Head Coach James Laurence said at our elite event this past weekend, "JJ, how does that kid not have an offer ? " It is what it is and Henderson will eventually have multiple schools to choose from, but for the time being it's going to be really interesting to see who pulls the trigger first.

If Tere' Calloway didn't have 8 offers we would have Reiley ranked the #1 DB in Washington. The kid is a lock down corner in every sense of the word and is almost just as good of a receiver. Last season he caught 57 balls for 901 yards and 11 Total Td's helping to lead his team to a state title appearance.

Henderson recently stopped playing baseball, even though he was considered maybe the top player in the state for his class. Its this type of focus towards football that has to make college coaches appreciate his decision. Reiley is the younger brother of the very talented Ellis Henderson who originally signed with Hawaii, but came back here to Portland St.

Someone is going to get a steal as Reiley just has a natural gift as a DB. He's sneaky good so we can understand how he can go under recruited to a point, but over the last month we have seen enough of Henderson to say that he's the top corner in the Northwest, with all due respect to Kahlil Dawson and Nate Halverson who are both D1 kids with offers.

Reiley will team with fellow junior speedster Forrest Russell to form one of the top 1-2 punches in the northwest. Russell went for over 800 yards and 8 Tds himself, as we will hear a great deal more from him in the near future.

Henderson has some significant goals for the upcoming season, '" I want to help get my team back to the dome, and personally I would like to be a first team all state athlete on both sides of the ball". He continued, " NEI and Barton Football has taught me a lot working with the top coaches, and competing against the best athletes in the northwest week in and week out".

Like many other athletes Reiley enjoys the competitive environment that only NEI and Barton Football can provide. The one comment we get from all of the top athletes that train with us is that this is the place to train if you want to get better. Most of the top kids aren't sufficiently challenged on a consistent basis, so any time you can compete against the top competition it becomes very valuable.

We wish Reiley continued success and we feel that he will be a kid with multiple prominent offers before all is said and done.

Looks like he knows how to contain, cut off the short route, and wrap up. More than most of our DB's did this year...

Unfortunately he got dismissed from the team early in the fall. His plan now is to attend a JC in Arizona to play baseball and then transfer to Arizona or go into the MLB. I was hoping he would sport maroon and silver one day but knew he was a helluva baseball player, being dismissed from the team probably shot any chance of him deciding to play college football.

Why does this article state that his brother Ellis is back at Portland State?
It's just flat out wrong, Ellis was going to transfer to PSU, but then he visited Montana. The article is also from last April, well after signing day and the start of second semester.

I believe before at the start of last year, Ellis was transferring to PSU, but opted for UM not long before signing day. This guy may have not known that when he wrote the article last April.

As for Reiley, I thought he was a lock for the Griz once he got kicked off the team and Washington, Wazzu and Oregon pulled their offers. Didn't know he was going the baseball route. Hope he's good enough, because toiling in the minors doesn't pay the bills. But you also can't fault a kid for loving the game of baseball either, and college baseball's popularity is at an all-time high right now.

This part is accurate His plan now is to attend a JC in Arizona to play baseball and then transfer...or go into the MLB!

Never had offers from any Pac-12 school for "football"...Probably one of the top five players in the NW for baseball. Led his HS team as a Frosh playing along side Ellis. I would expect him to get drafted this spring if he can put together a solid senior season.

Athlete deep gene pool (Hendersons) with strong professional ties in Baseball. I was told earlier this year that both boys played in a travel ball program that help to guide about 15 kids to D-1 baseball, football or MLB draft. Ellis also could have gone in the baseball direction...guess he still might have that option given the family.

Hopefully, I will get details from a "reliable" source on Riley later tonight... :ugeek:

i'm shocked that a thread calling a kid none of us has met a "db" hasn't been moved to the bench. just shocked.

gawdamn immoderators.

I read that the same way yesterday just scanning thread titles.

He's such a DB for not choosing the Griz. ;)

Looks like he is not totally done with football. Signed with Western Oregon and looks like he is going to play baseball as well. I wish he was heading to the Griz, NEI and Northwest Preps rave about his corner abilities.

Reiley Henderson (5-10 185, CB, Skyview) – Henderson is a legit Pac 12 corner and that’s truth. Props to Western for grabbing the top DB in Washington who will be playing multiple sports at WOU. He is also one of the best baseball players in the region. Reiley will be a D2 All American at Corner and potentially one of the best players to ever play at Western. He is that good.

I think I have Western Oregon @ MSU-Billings this year.

Western Oregon is solid in baseball. I think last year they won their 11th straight GNAC conf title. Coach left this year so who know's how they'll be but the get guys drafted...
