Arkansas-LSU

So what? FBS whomps. The winners in Chatty will be the REAL champions, so who cares about the bogus bowls?

Don't think I said anything about bowls or champions. Just said it was a great game.

I enjoyed it...love overtime.

Only problem is ...it lets Ohio State sniff the NC again.

You love OT? Do you mean that you love COLLEGE OT or OT in general?

College OT whomps. It artificially pads stats and causes linemen to get hurt due to the vastly decreased time between series. College OT reeks of not only softball's international tiebreaker but kickball's win by shootout.

Before you go whining about my wanting to go back to tie games, think again. As everyone knows, ties are like kissing your sister. Ugh!

What I'd like to see is for college to install NFL-style "sudden-death" OT with one caveat: the OT doesn't become "sudden-death" until each team has had one possession. Stats are not artificially padded, the bogus forced 2-point rule is eliminated, and the "normal" time between series keeps out some of the heinous OT injuries we've seen this year.

I am going to call BS on this one. Decreased time between possesions is crap. Seldom do they go more than 1 OT so it is NOT a factor in the game. Increased injuries??? Hell yes there are. It is at the end of a 60 minute game with players pushing themselves after a close game. They are tired and are much more likely to get hurt being that wiped out. Plus the fact that the emotion of a OT game puts the play level up a notch. Texas OT gives both teams an equal chance as they deserve from playing a game to a tie. More injuries BS!

College football OT is exciting and unlike the pros both teams get the ball and a chance.

“When the league shifted to the K-ball in 1998 and moved to the 30-yard line for kickoffs the team that won the coin toss in overtime won the game 62.5% of the time and the loser of the toss won only 37.5% of the time. This statistic has held pretty consistently for the last eight or nine years.”

Did you read my modification of the NFL OT, Bronco? That would eliminate the stat you cite. Besides, switching to the K-Ball and shifting the KO line had ZERO to do with that stat. That's held true pretty much since the NFL started OT in the '50s.
