So, let's take a trip back in time to Kris Brown's Bozeman High state champion senior season: 2,843 yards 31 TD, 499 rush yards 4 TD 120 QB rate

Now, granted D1 football is a tad harder, but when this kid gets his game time in over the next few games, the Griz are not screwed.

And a kid with numbers better than that and a Gatorade POY trophy in his room is currently a 3rd string linebacker.

From my perspective our new guy stepped into a high leverage, high pressure situation and nearly delivered a game winning strike with a great throw. No panic, just about pulled it off. Is he going to make some bonehead rookie mistakes? More than likely but I think he has "it" however you care to define it. If so we could be pretty good and ready to make a run in the post season by regular season's end no matter what kind of seed we get. Kem is right, very rarely does a successful campaign come without a few setbacks.

I like the way you think. I also agree that DI football is a tad different than Montana HS football. Just a tad, lol. I think he will do well. Nobody who gets to that level is gun shy about a challenge. Just my opinion…

Thanks CDA. Yep, D1 is hard but there have been a number of Montana Sate champion high school QBs go on to have fairly decent D1 careers.

Who would be the most recent one?

Amazing the comments about the defense being so good, the pass defense was the worst I have ever witnessed in my many years of watching and cheering for Griz football. I hope the coaching staff gets things ironed out or the next passing team will make for a brutal game. How can you cover a receiver and never look back at any time for the ball, blows my mind.

Had such high hopes for this year. Now we have so many starters out it seems like we are a shell of who I thought would be on the field. Please no hate. looking for some positive reinforcement.

Comon' man
UM has 6 games in a row that our D and Special Teams could win on their own...

It's great to see you back in midseason form, HHB. :thumb:

eGriz hates a realistic view.

Only game we lose rest of the reg season is Cats. Hope I'm wrong, I just think they are most complete team in the SKY

EWU and UM will beat MSU.
Could happen. I hope not but it's not a crazy take. We will win all three remaining at home. Really need to win 2-3 on the road I think to be in a good position for playoffs. Schedule is about to get very real for the Cats.

I would say Cat Griz is a toss up at this point. Six weeks until that game and with injuries and young guys developing both teams could look a lot different (perhaps better) by then.

I'd take that action.

so would I. Weber will be lucky to SCORE two touchdowns.

I agree. Griz held EWU to almost 20 points below their average. Stats don't matter, the score does. Everyone knew Eastern would get their yards and only got rolling after our O could not sustain drives to give the D a decent rest.

I really don’t understand why people are underestimating Weber. They are better than their record shows. The Cats D has been good against sub par teams. They will be on the road and it will be their first test.

I'm not underestimating Weber at all. I think they are a good team and I'm very excited about that game. But I don't think they'll beat the Cats by two touchdowns like you said. That's all.

Brawl should very good this year. I have heard rumors that the cats are looking to replace punt returner, also heard TA was in the mix. Is that accurate, because I would take him back there over just about anyone, big fast strong smart, and he has more rushing TDs then god. Would be wild and probably pretty damn effective.

Were we screwed when the Salmon came back to Capistrano? No.
Are we screwed now? Maybe. But, I think No.

Not sure about the punt returning except for some talk on BN from a few guys saying how bad willie is doing back there. He’s had a couple missteps but overall I’m not not that disappointed with him.

As far as TA returning punts, as fun as that would be from a fan standpoint I’d put the odds of our staff doing that somewhere just under 1%. The problem with having a guy like Troy is that fans want him to play every position on the field. I think it’s wild enough he’s played RB, QB and LB in his career and had success in all three.

But if it means Hauck will prepare all week for Troy to return punts, then yes, I’ve heard with almost 100% certainty that Troy is our new punt returner. ;)
