You've seen big upsets in national college football all year..NOW it bball's turn and OUR Griz get to.. go for it!...and yes i am talking National D1 scale...or should we start that discussion over here !

Nothing to me is more fun than a big upset !!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Washington State: Every time I bump into somebody who was involved with USA Basketball this summer I ask for the college player who most surprised them. Every time, the answer is Derrick Low, which means the best-kept secret in the Pac-10 last season is hardly a secret anymore.

8. Georgetown: Roy Hibbert's decision to return to college might cost him some serious money, but it makes the Hoyas another threat to reach the Final Four.

9. Michigan State: Drew Neitzel won't play as many minutes per game, but his production should be similar to last season.

10. Marquette: Freshman Trevor Mbakwe will shore up a questionable frontline and complement an undeniable backcourt.

11. Indiana: The best thing about the start of practice at Indiana is that it means there should be less time for Kelvin Sampson to make impermissible phone calls. (Honestly, could you believe that story this weekend? Unreal.)

12. Villanova: Just like usual, Jay Wright has a lot of great guards, among them sophomore Scottie Reynolds.

13. Duke: Missing on Greg Monroe was devastating, but that won't show up until next season. For now, the Blue Devils are still the Blue Devils, which is to say they are worthy of an elite ranking thanks to talents like Kyle Singler and DeMarcus Nelson.

14. Oregon: The return of Bryce Taylor, Maarty Leunen, Malik Hairston and Tajuan Porter makes Oregon a serious threat in the Pac-10.

15. Gonzaga: If Josh Heytvelt parties again, I just hope he does so somewhere other than a car and at some time other than the night before a game. That was pretty stupid last season.

Heard from someone that knows the team that everyone on GU hates heytveldt. Heard he's arrogant and everyone's kind of pissed he fucked up last year. Also heard there are a couple guys who are having trouble academically. Wouldn't be surprised to see few sit them for lowly montana as a statement.

a year ago, we were coming off that win over nevada, strait was getting a lot of pub for his game against fazekas, and tv commentator fran fraschilla was predicting we'd beat west virginia in the first game of that tournament in florida. little did we know that that internal dissension would infect our team, or that west virginia would go on to win 27 games, including the n.i.t. championship. their coach then, john beilein, is now at michigan.

in any case, i believe we're better prepared now to take on top 15 teams than we were to open against the mountaineers last year. that loss, cominded with a lethargic performance, just seemed to set the tone for the entire season.

That 1-3-1 didnt help anything, having that big dude on top to pick EVERY BE pass off. Tinks was not ready for that.....wow that game was annoying.

Some Preseason Polls have Sac State playing FOUR Top 25 teams... Oregon, Marquette, Kansas State, and Stanford!

At least it's good for the 'ol RPI and SOS... Among his faults, Jenkins sure puts together and interesting OOC schedule...

Is that your coach? Because your coach is a complete Dbag. No offense

Not as bad as PSU... they were very classless.

Sheesh. Don't mind Swilly, what he lacks in common courtesy and class he makes up with his crazy passion for basketball.

Nice, Kadeezy.

It's good to see teams go out and schedule some tougher schedules. Portland State has been doing this for a few years year now, and their OOC RPI is consistently higher than the average for the Big Sky. If they could ever take care of business in conference, they'd have themselves a respectable RPI. EWU has been in a similar boat.

This helps the conference overall. It hurts when you have conference teams in the 250+ range because they played a bunch of below average teams and lost some. If you're going to come into conference below .500, you might as well have a SOS ranked above 150 at least.

I'm sure he won't be offended. Jesus.

I don't think he's a Dbag. He's actually quite a likeable guy. It's hard to be in a good mood when your teams don't play that well on the road, and when they do, they get the shaft from the refs.

For all the teams, i'd like to keep a tally of fouls called in the BSC home vs. away...

I really doubt that home vs. road has anything to do with it, unless Fullerton sends down a team order. From everything I've ever heard about BSC refs, it sounds very similar to what I hear of (not to mention personally witness) in the Big West. It's not favoritism; it's outright equal opportunity incompetence. While I don't like the National Corrupt Athletic Association, perhaps it's time that we see a national supervisor of officials who does nothing but grade game tape, with those grades determining both post-season assignments and future employment. This would also mean streamlining rules as there are individual differences by conference (the most glaring of these is the various football replay systems). There's no reason that bogus officiating should continue given the $$ these folk make.

One should also see the "private contractor" employed by the Big West to officiate a girls' soccer game at UOP. He apparently flipped off a fan after a game with Long Beach State, drawing gasps from the crowd, which included youth soccer athletes and other CHILDREN. He also got into a jawing match with the AD after the game. While I can't stand the AD (who's a bloody prez-butt-kissing sycophant), there's no excuse for that kind of behavior from someone entrusted with rule enforcement.

Kadeezy,

I haven't witnessed the best of officiating in that cracker box gym at Sac State either, but I also realize that is part of life on the road, in any conference. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. Jerome brings a lot of stuff on himself in my opinion. He complains about every call and badgers officials the entire game. I just don't think he is a very good coach. I realize he is at a big disadvantage recruiting wise because of the sub standard facility, but he knew that when he took the job. :twocents:

Good schedule though.

The facility KILLS us. Jerome is a good recruiter. For us to have been competitive in our "crackerbox" for the past few years has been an achievement.

We're hoping for the events center will break ground on time this summer and be done for the '09 season...

I have yet to figure out which is worse: that preschool gym or the Memorial Auditorium with the ballroom chandeliers over the court and opera seating with no freaking parking and a visitor's shooting advantage.

I would say that Suc St is my second favorite Big Sky team and the comment about Jenkins shouldnt of been taking that seriously. Ive just heard a couple interviews after your game and I made an opinion, not like he gives a flying FFFFF about a kid in Montana. Lol
