We'll see, I think you underestimate SD, they had a pretty good defense. App State is going to have a down year and we should beat them pretty easy. I think you should be worried about drake instead of worrying about UM.

All due respect to South Dakota, who I am not familiar enough with to have an informed opinion, our defense is very strong, especially in the front seven. Very athletic and deep up front. With all the injuries/suspensions, the question marks come in our secondary. Our top corner Demetrius McCray and strong safety Troy Sanders are both excellent players but tons of inexperience beyond that.

This game could go either way but I would be very surprised if you beat us easily.

Figure in it's only McKinney's second start at QB plus the game is at "the rock" and there is no way we win easy. I'm hoping coach held out on down field plays against SD as a strategic move against App.

Moore might have to just get mad and do his thing this game.

I just watched the App Ecu game and all I can say is that ECU is just a bunch of classless dicks. Their attitude sucked almost as much as their holding. ECU's O line held all day long, which set up some big plays. App looked a little out of sorts, but the lax officiating didn't help.

Where were you able to watch the game? I watched most of the Liberty Wake Forest game on ESPN 3 last night.

recorded it. One of my Dishnetwork sports package channels showed it in real time Saturday. I think it was Root.

WTF? Are you serious? Apparently you haven't watched the Kittens play. They have TONS of team speed and a damn solid front 7. XXX was a very weak team with very little speed. No way in hell you run on Kittens like you did WOXXX.

FWIW, South Dakota is a full-scholarship, FCS team and member of the Missouri Valley Conference -the presser says they're DII and I hate it when the FCS schools refer to their own kind as DII. Otherwise, the report is great. Read like a promo for a heavyweight fight.

Sounds like their home field advantage is pretty crazy, haven't lost at home since the first game of the 2009 season? 17 in a row? Also - someone better tell them their O Line is undersized and will get pushed all over the field... they have a huge Right tackle at 315 pounds... but regarding the other 4 linemen... they average 282, going 280, 295, 285, and 268.

The progression of our OL is a question this year but I don't think they will get pushed around. Dufort at RT and Lamm at LT are both very good. Listed at 6-6 280, I think Lamm is getting shorted on both counts. The interior is smaller but they are coming together and held up very well in the heat at East Carolina, who has a strong defensive line. Jamal had to throw 40 passes and they did not surrender a sack.

The bigger question will be what kind of holes they can open up in the run game. They seemed to be doing well in that regard early, but having our every down RB go down in the 3rd really put a kink in things. That will be a key match-up, for sure.

First year for SD to be "playoff eligible". This is their 5th year in FCS.

Uh No. This is not the first year SD is D-I. South Dakota has been FCS since 2007, however there is a five year probationary period for FCS schools that prevents them from participating in the playoffs. 2012 is the first year South Dakota is playoff eligible, though as recently as last year, South Dakota cracked the FCS top 25-- made it to No. 22. This is also South Dakota's first year in the Missouri Valley Conference, previously they played in the Great West Conference against Davis, SUU, Cal Poly, UND, etc. Those are FCS schools too, poorgriz.
Dakota schools leaving the probationary period have proven very dangerous in the playoffs during their first year of eligibility. NDSU for example shamed the bobcats in Bozeman during the Bison's first playoff eligible year.

It is likely that Appalachian State is fielding one of the nation’s youngest teams in 2012.
• Of the 54 players listed on Appalachian’s depth chart, 22 are freshmen, 13 are sophomores, 12 are juniors and just seven are seniors.
• The Mountaineers have just 12 seniors on their roster this season, their fewest since there were only 12 seniors on the roster in 2005 (the year Appalachian won its first of three-straight national championships).
• Last Saturday at East Carolina, eight true freshmen saw action for Appalachian State: RB Ricky Fergerson, DB Alex Gray, LB Greg Hall, WR Malachi Jones, DB Aaron Krah, LB John Law, DL Tashion Singleton and DB Kevin Walton.

Interesting. Griz also have just 12 seniors.
