Appalachian State Scouting Report

Mckinney and the receivers are going to have to have a solid game to open up the fun for sure. I doubt those swing passes will be as effective in Boone this weekend but the running game will put points on the board.

App's going to be down one of their stud corners but the other is pretty solid, they've also got a good safety but I think the other safety out there is also pretty green. USD had 3 returning secondary members in our game on Saturday.

It will really depend on App's defensive scheme. If they creep up to press the WRs they'll run risk of our slot WRs and TEs getting loose on them. Additionally they could find themselves victims of an 80 yard TD bomb as well.

All App St needs to do it load the box and stop the run, we dont have a QB that can throw the ball downfield "consistently".

There will probably be a buzz saw on Saturday but it will be wearing black and gold.............

Well, throw an "80-ish" number on Hyphenated and let him fill in for Hardy in our "pass the ball over 10 yards downfield" offensive package. :?

Chisolm had surgery on Sunday for a broken hand, Out 4-6 weeks.

That sucks, hate to see that stuff.

What about Middleton will he be back? And Price is still suspended, correct?

Middleton has a broken ankle, done for the year.

Not sure about Price.

He's suspended per what I was told

U sure about that? What do u have to base that on? The reason he didn't test the waters is because he didn't have to. But I'm fine with App State loading the box. We'll see I guess!
I am thinking the same. I think we run on app state easier than we did against SD.

That's correct. Sean Price and Jamill Lott (FS) are both serving the back end of a 2-game suspension this weekend. Chisholm is out 4-6 weeks with a broken hand and it was announced today that starting corner Doug Middleton will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery on his ankle.

Man, when it rains it pours.

Packing the box doesn't stop shorter passes in the flats. If safeties "pack" up closer the line of scrimmage, and also cheat out to stop shorter passes, the middle of the field becomes vulnerable to even medium passes over the middle. Plus a team that packs the box better have very good corners who can cover the entire field in man. Perhasp ASU does.

I don't think we'll have to do anything too special scheme wise to manage the Griz's ground game. We have a talented and large DL and the best linebacking corps We've ever fielded IMO. Our biggest weakness is the depth of our secondary. The Griz would do well to try some long tosses as the game goes on.

The question will be how deep your linebackers and defensive linemen are, Doctor. At the pace we'll play, you'll need to rotate in lots of players.

Don't you fret 'bout that none. Our D has to practice against our O everyday. They're used to "pace".

WTF? Are you serious? Apparently you haven't watched App State play. They have TONS of team speed and a damn solid front 7. SD was a very weak team with very little speed. No way in hell you run on them like you did SD.

I just watched the App Ecu game and all I can say is that ECU is just a bunch of classless dicks. Their attitude sucked almost as much as their holding. ECU's O line held all day long, which set up some big plays. App looked a little out of sorts, but the lax officiating didn't help.

Where were you able to watch the game? I watched most of the Liberty Wake Forest game on ESPN 3 last night.

That wasn't fretting. That was stating a fact.

We'll see, I think you underestimate SD, they had a pretty good defense. App State is going to have a down year and we should beat them pretty easy. I think you should be worried about drake instead of worrying about UM.

WOW! Pretty easy??? OK, if you say so. Hell, why bother to play the game? Just write our Chancellor ... he'll probably agree to forfeit. Chit!

All due respect to South Dakota, who I am not familiar enough with to have an informed opinion, our defense is very strong, especially in the front seven. Very athletic and deep up front. With all the injuries/suspensions, the question marks come in our secondary. Our top corner Demetrius McCray and strong safety Troy Sanders are both excellent players but tons of inexperience beyond that.

This game could go either way but I would be very surprised if you beat us easily.

App St defense >>>>>>>>>>>> USD defense

USD was undersized in their secondary, had slower than average linebackers, and a very soft D-line. App has none of that.

 Oh man. You sir, are in for a shocker on Saturday. I can only hope you didn't fork over a bunch of cash for a plane ticket to NC with misguided perceptions like that.
