Any info on Cherry's injury?

Well that would be a huge bummer if he would have to sit out all year... hopefully he is able to make a full recovery, even if it takes the full 12 weeks.

in terms of how bad it could have been...this isn't to bad. it'll allow for some young guys to get valuable minutes, or perhaps not "young" guys but guys who otherwise wouldn't have gotten much time. and 6-8 weeks won't hurt considering he can be back healthy and ready to rock for ya come conference play.

still sucks to see a great player go down. or any player for that matter.

This sucks for Will and the team. I feel it will impact the defense more than offense. Defensively, Deshields and Gregory will be tested.

Offensively, I am not too worried. The best distributor and most intelligent play maker is Kareem Jamar. The offense will run through Kareem in half court sets, a lot in the 1st month. Gregory and Deshields will get more time running the offense as they get comfortable. Look for Weisner and Henderson, to be more involved while Cherry is out.

From what I am hearing, the odds are better that he redshirts than plays this season.

Interesting... I guess if he is not able to come back at full strength this year, it would probably be best both for Montana to have him healthy for a full year next year, and for his NBA chances if can showcase the full breadth of his abilities.

Hate to say it, but this might not be as bad as it looks! If he sits out this year we will be absolutely stacked next year! This in a weird way, would benefit him with an extra year, and help the team mature. It would suck for Ward, but overall it will make the team stronger for next year! And maybe next year we can get a stronger schedule!!

I think it would be a mistake for Will to try and play this year! He needs every game on the schedule to prove himself to scouts. If he comes back, he would have missed the BYU, Colo St, San Diego, and South Dakota St games. Those are the games out of league the scouts want to see. Also, a foot injury like this will hamper him and slow him down all season, and what happens if he tweaks it?? Then there is the mental side, and he comes back playing to hard trying to make up for lost time?? By sitting he will mature and gain a new perspective by watching, coaching, and seeing the game from a whole new angle. This could actually be more of an opportunity for Will than a set back??
