Any Given Saturday

Three weeks ago, the North Dakota Hawks thoroughly dominated the NDSU Bison. I was impressed. But the next weekend North Dakota laid an egg. I was shocked. The only thing that made sense, at least to me was that On Any Given Saturday………..

That is also how I see the Vandal, Cat and Griz furball.

Any of these three could come out on top on Any Given Saturday.

Late in the season injuries and attrition generally play a bigger and bigger role. By the end of this season, the Top of the Big Sky will probably be the team that fielded the fittest and healthiest players, whether through depth or luck.

It is going to be a very interesting month ahead.

Agree and QB play is going to be critical. I actually thought Mellott played really well yesterday. His passing was extremely good and his receivers laid a big old egg for him when it counted. Going to be really interesting to see if the Griz are that team. The one who shows up for big games, but just doesn’t get that hyped for an average opponent. This week will tell a lot about this team. McD brings a nice element with his running capabilities. He threw pretty well yesterday as well. Ah Yat. Wowza, he can sling it and is poised. Going to be fun to watch the next three weeks.

Mellott was 2/10 in the first half. I watched most of the 2nd half after the Griz put theirs away…seemed like just about every pass he threw up was just a jump ball. Very strange offensive play calling by MSdUi.

His first half was not good. His second half was solid. He hit Dowler right in the damn hands on a deep route to the end zone. Almost every single pass the last series was on the money and most were caught. He did his job, but several balls were on the money and dropped. I don’t think he played bad. Play calling was likely off due to the run just not working that well. Idaho had schemes very well.

Just beat Sac State. They are good.

Need to run the table. Lower seeds are just participation trophies waiting to happen.

Perhaps not as much this year as the last half dozen seasons. SDSU is excellent but the bubs showed they’re not invincible, even at home. None of the other top seeds worry me. GRIZ have shown they can go on the road and beat top teams.
