anthony johnson...

I had hear that he was cleared, but I think GB1 may know better. In any case you will know shortly Practice starts this Friday at 7:00PM!

Anthony Mark Johnson (born October 2, 1974 in Charleston, South Carolina) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the Orlando Magic of the NBA. Johnson is a 6'3" (1.91 m) point guard. On February 16, 2008, Johnson was involved in a multi-player trade to the Sacramento Kings for Mike Bibby (the trade is pending league approval and physical examinations).[1]

Looks like he's cleared to go if he passes his physical.

lol... wrong Anthony, Lou...

then again, I dont know your board persona... you may just be havin fun here

I think he is cleared....but don't quote me on that..... but according to some of the players....Johnson is playing VERY well..... and should be a major contributor right away.....sounds like hes that very athletic point guard, who can shoot well enought to keep the defense honest and does a great job with the drive and kick game...... should be a great compliment to Jr....... put Taylor in the mix and PG should be our strongest position.....

I have also heard Johnson will be a versatile player for the Griz. He will play all three perimeter positions for the Griz. He has the ball skills to play some at point and is strong enough to play some at the small forward spot in a 3 guard line up. I continue to hear he is a Virgil Mathews type of player, but a much better scorer. The guy I talked to thinks he will be starting at the off/shooting guard spot by conference if not sooner.

Forgive my ignorance; Was this grade/transfer credit issues or an injury that we're awaiting clearance on?

I heard that it was simply a transcript issue related issue that was not cleared up in time for him to play in the Canadian tourney in early September 4 days after school started. For the record this is not uncommon with transfer students (JC or not). It is quite common for transfers to have to jump through some hoops the first couple of weeks of classes, but normally you do not hear about it. In this case, though the team had that preseason tourney 3-4 days after classes started. Tinkle should have talked to Hauck, football coaches are experts at getting the paper work in order before classes start.
