Mandy is named Player of the week for the 11th time of her career. 3rd time this year. One more time should tie the record for Player of the Week awards for a career for women.

Anthony Johnson won it for mens sharing the award with WSU's Kellen Mccoy.

Congrats to both, and even more to their teams for W's. Check this out from the press release in the Missoulian.

McCoy, a 5-6 senior guard from Norman, Okla., led Weber State to road victories over Portland State and Eastern Washington. He averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and a steal per game.

Is this correct 5'6", and he averaged 8.5 rebounds per game? If that is accurate, there is no excuse for our bigs, or anyone not to be rebounding better!!!!!!!!!! That is an amazing rebound average for someone shorter than 6'6". I hope our coaches can use that stat to motivate our GRIZ to rebound better.

He is 5'6". Very impressive. It says in his bio that he's a good rebounder for his size.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is very frustrated by our lack of rebounding against smaller teams... It gets a little frustrating to frequently see some of our bigs heading down the court immediately after a shot goes up on defense, not being in position on offense to get rebounds, and not following their shots when they take one :( How many times have we seen so far this year where the other team has 4 people crashing the boards, and we have 1 underneath it seems...

Maybe that's why I really like Sharp and Banny... They get to the glass, and are physical. Sure, Banny is a little rough around the edges on offense (too bad he wasn't feeling well last game), and sharp is undersized for the center position...but they work their asses off to get rebounds despite their size, and our bigs should really be taking notes when those two are in the game.

Hasquet, Selvig, and Qvale need alot of Sharp, Banny, and McGillis in their games. With those 3 there should not be a better rebounding team in the conference. Also our our guards, Johnson and Taylor are solid rebounding guards when they need to be. Physically Selvig has a way to go to be expected to put up rebounding numbers. As for Hasquet and Qvale, they both are physically ready to dominate the boards. Qvale's problem is more with his hands and footwork than desire. If he ever learns to consistently secure the ball, he will be a very good rebounder. Hasquet has proven over his career he is capable of averaging 8 boards per game. There have been a few games where he outright dominated the boards with 10 plus.

Talent wise Hasquet could average 15 points, 8 boards, 2-3 assists, and 1-2 blocks per game in this conference. I wonder if we ever see the real HASQUET this year for more than an occasional game? I am hoping that more of Sharp influence Qvale and Selvig when Sharp and Hasquet move on.

No question our bigs need the fire and attitude for this team to take it to the highest levels. I have said it from the beginning of the year, "This year depends on the progress of our bigs!!!" The positive with our bigs, surprisingly enough they are solid defensively now. However, inside scoring and rebounding need ALOT of improvement.

correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Qvale have 10 boards in less than 20 minutes on Sat? Last time I checked, that was pretty damn good. My complaint with Brian is he isn't physical enough when someone drives the paint. He needs to plant a couple of those little guys and they won't be so quick to go the the bucket. If they do, they will be wondering where he is. The bigs need to OWN the paint...period.

He sure did GB. the problem is those games are too few and too far between. There is no reason why our bigs should not be OWNING the paint in this conference!!!!
