Another Nice Win - I like Ah Yat, but Fife ...

Fife was 30-42 (71%) for 364 yards for 5 TD's and no picks and 5 TD's. Incredible game. Almost zero bad plays or mistakes. I have been a Fife guy all along. Fine with Ah Yat too.

D was fine in first half, but not so good in 2d half. ST were pretty weak the whole game. The front guys looked like they hadn't been warned on the onside kick. They went backwards immediately and kicker, who had great kick, recovered right where our guys had been standing. It was an obvious onside kick situation. Too many yards on KO returns. One guy had 184. A few weak kicks/punts by us.

O-line was good the whole game. The running backs were very good the whole game. Receivers weren't perfect, but played well. Bergen is amazing.

No turnovers in game.

Wilson has a lot of speed, as we all knew. He ran down the QB on the long DT run, after rushing in from the far edge.

The EWU was feeling the rush early. He had some runs, but he didn't throw his normal 79%. 58% and 4 TD's. The receiver no, was good and could run.

TOTAL PLAYS 79-81, UM first
Avg Yds/Play 8.9 6.8
Rushing-Passing 36-43 39-42

I thought the Griz were in control most of the game, but EWU didn't back off. 751-551 TO. EWU had 1 penalty, UM 5, most of which were early.

The Griz corners played pretty well and had some nice long coverages and plays. Safeties seemed mix. Corners weren't prefect early. Long coverages in man are tough.

Ostmo 10.7 per carry and Gillman 9.9. Those guys are great players. Fife 5-22.

Great TE pass plays and catches. 3 of them. 10 players caught balls.

9-16 3d/4th coversions. EWU was 9-15. 14 tackles by Tirrell. Only 1 sack for Griz, Harris, but decent pressure and, at times, apparent good downfield coverage when the QB couldn't or didn't throw. EWU receivers could have caught ball better.

The Griz play a lot of players on D. The roughing call on Hayden was BS.

These refs were very pathetic. Some incredibly wrong or dumb calls, some right in front of the guy who made the call. They corrected a few. They seemed like they had little experience and had never played the game. Late in game, they shorted us about a yard on a Gillman run, even after a replay review.

"The Griz put up 701 yards of offense, the second most in program history as they finished with 364 passing yards and 337 rushing yards. That helped them win on Eastern's red turf for the first time and get their first win in Cheney since 2008 to end their longest road drought against conference foes." Missoulian tonight.

The 2nd half was painful to watch! How can the defensive backfield allow the receivers to be so wide open when everyone knew they were going to throw the ball. Inexcusable.

Our defense was three points better than Eastern's. I think the defense misses Rider Meyer big time. He's a leader out there.
what this dude said. our safeties really struggled today. i think EWU knew we might be susceptible there and picked on them a little. some head scratchers out there in coverage for sure. thought they did pretty good in run support though. the way EWU was able to run the ball on us in the 4th quarter surprised me a bit. i suspect they knew we were expecting them to throw a bit more. the long QB run is one that the defense will want to forget, but something tells me that one might be highlighted in film study this week and consequently....painfully not forgotten.

Seems like they may have watched the UND tape. Also amazed me how wide open guys were. Missed assignments.

i think ah yat brings more to the offense than fife, although both are good. eastern washington's d was not good, i saw more wide open griz receivers than any other game this year.
