Another Move Up Opinion

Copper Griz said:
Oh, what a missed opportunity. To think we could have been playing top tier teams like Wyoming and Hawaii. Think of the national coverage and recognition. Other states would finally takes us seriously and our attendance would be much higher. We would be sooooo much better moving into the Mostly Whimsical Athletic Conference. What a step up and just think of the excitement as playoffs neared every year. Oh wait - what? There are no - playoffs! Well at least we would still have the excitement and rivalry of Griz - Cat every year. What's that you say - we would no longer play each other. Damn - this deal gets better by the second. Quit trying to f up a good thing you egotistical nimrods. We live in a state with just over 1 million people and the Griz are located in a town (yes town - not metropolis)under 100,000   . The state is huge and many of the fans travel a long way to watch the games because there are local Montanan's playing. Not going to be many if you move up. Why, because Marc Mariani was not the norm and speed is what we will need more of. Hello out of state recruits. Goodbye fans who relate with the program. Good God - the Bobcats should be raving about the Griz moving up. They could finally win a Big Sky Conference Championship outright.
 Smart ass aside, very true. Great humor!

I think the question has to be asked what the situation be right now had the UM said yes to Benson's WAC invite last year? We would be preparing for an inagural season in a conference that won't exist, and surely you can't think that that MWC would invite UM based on the WAC's invite alone.

To avoid posting stupid you really need to pay understand the facts...Everybody in the WAC with the exception of Idaho and New Mexico State is moving on to the MWC. Like it or not the WAC was simply a transitional stopping place for schools that had the foresight to graduate to FBS status... (Zzzzzzz egriz continues to be populated by zero IQ posters who go Rush Limbaugh one better...he only has half of his brain tied behind him. These dufuses go all in.)

So if UM went FBS, why would there be less Montana recruits? Are you implying Montanans are bad at sports?

Are you so stoned that you don't know the answer to your own question? Think about it for a minute and if you still don't know I'll explain it to you. And No it isn't because Montanans are bad at sports

I don't see your point. Montana(the state) has more players in the NFL than 10 other states combined. Sounds like there is talent here

...less Montana recruits..? Less is for stuff measured by volume like coffee, grain and the flatulence you blow out your backside with your ungrammatical blather. The word is fewer.

Oh wow you got me there.

People keep saying there won't be as many Montana recruits if they went FBS.. Why would there be less....? You guys are so ignorant it's ridiculous.

Go ahead and explain why there'd be fewer Montana recruits. I'd love to read your theory.

GrizLA, I was enjoying your pc until I got to your "how well Cali. is doing."

You would need to be bordering on insanity to state that California is doing well. The politicos have over spent the budget until the state is flat broke and on the bum. Over funding the state retirement with money they did not have. Causing serious short fall. Giving away money for the many slackers and downtrodden that was not in the budget so the poor damn state is in the red! The red! We do substantial business in California and all of our clients and their companies feel it is the most over taxed place in the USA! Yes indeed most of the people we deal with from California are well off financially and love to visit Montana. Some even purchase a get away home in Montana.

Move up or down? Football at the U has been wildly successful up to this point. It is difficult for me to jump into the fight for a UM move up, down or stay. I have strong opinions about most UM situations but in this case I tend to stand on the sidelines. All of the reasons stated for a move are valid but so are the ones for staying. I will point out any move without a AD in place is beyond silly. Who can lead us? As I stated UM's football program is strong, has tons of support, brings in lots of money, increased UM's enrollment, popular in the entire state etc. I doubt the regents will allow UM to move without MSU doing the same thing.

I stand alone on the sidelines.

Yep, griz LA is in a fantasy world, that's par for the course in the greece of the USA.

Then the WAC could be a three team conference.

The number one reason that the MWC told UI and NMSU was tv market.

UM/MSU would bring the state of Montana as a television market.

Don't know if/how many eGrizzers have read Michael Lewis' book, "Boomerang," which chronicles how Iceland, Ireland, Greece, etc. got into financial trouble. He also has a chapter on California's problem.
In short, it's a case of everyone wanting government services but no one wanting to be taxed to pay for them. The U.S. may well be not far behind.

Haha, and I'm the moron? Silvertip, you're the one failing to see my point. Let me dumb this down for you so you can understand. The point I made was not that UM's final resting place would be the WAC, if thats all you dream of for your football team, athletics and university then you deserve to be a habitual door mat. One area that UM athletics would have to look at is the growth potential of our university and athletics to move beyond the WAC at some point into a larger regional conference such as MWC with other flagship universities. The extremely hypothetical scenario I found interesting is what steps would the UM take if they would have accepted the WAC offer, the immediate drop down back to the BSC would have scared our administration too much to take another risk down the line, and a move to the MWC could have been too much too quick, not allowing us the stepping stone phase of the WAC. Please Silvertip, keep calling people idiots when you yourself can't comprehend what others are saying.

California is near the middle of US states in taxes and I believe lower than Montana in real estate tax but, sadly, you are right. What truly messes up California are the various propositions put out by right wing or left wing corporate interests that take tax money from the general funds and dedicate to specific things. What is most troubling is that Calif state policy is being determined by a minority party that sees a world that never existed and fights the other side that sees a world that could be, with both missing the present.

Left Coast Right Coast... what is it about sniffing salt sea air that turns seemingly normal people into mindless automatons marching through life with their hands out? Night of the Living Dead exists.

Yeah its called human nature and no one likes to support the lazy or government growth with their own real jobs. If you don't get that, then you probably have never signed the front of a check.

You have most of the dots connected, all that is left is the pandering politicians who promise the free lunch to unbelievably gullible voters that government can be all things to all people if we just tax a couple of millionaires.

Those voters and believers are called liberals or for the Lehman unrealistic, out of touch, dead beats who refuse to better themselves because that is what the government is for right?

Keep your flipping politics to yourselves. I am sick and tired of - the right is to blame. The left is to blame. News flash *%4 holes - we are all to blame. The country is in the shape it is due to our behavior as a society, so keep your holier than thou party politics in the cellar. This is a sports web site. Try Fox News or CNBC you clowns. Now back to sports!
