Sorry, I was going to add this to the Idaho/Gonzaga thread, but am so impressed by 1 ZAG, I felt he is worthy of a new thread.

Once again, AUSTIN DAYE has impressed me to no end. I have seen 2 games, and am completely sold on him. He will be ZAGS version of Durant this year. I said during the GRIZ game, ZAGS better enjoy this kids while they can. When he adds 25 lbs, he will be NBA. His game is all NBA already. I see him at Gonzaga for 2 years if he stays healthy, then NBA!!!

Tonights line thus far, 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 BLOCKS!!!
This kid is a dream recruit. Congrats to the ZAGS for landing him. He is a once in a generation player for a program!!!

Final note: no smack talk on this ZAG thread. Just like Daye's game, I want results not talk. :thumb:

He has been beyond impressive so far this year but it was against Montana (Andrew Strait) and Idaho. Not a knock on him but I look forward to seeing what he can do against Memphis, Tennessee (going to try and be there, i love TN's game), etc. He's not Durant, but he could be close in the coming years.

Stats aside, what I love about his game, he always is making an impact. He confident and calm, does not force action, and does whatever he can to contribute. He is unselfish as well. In the Montana game, at 1st I wondered what a 6'10" guy was doing handling the ball and taking pull up jumpers. One fell, then another, I was like "wow" this kid could be something! I was very impressed. Now the Idaho game, once again sold on his offense. His defensive presence impressed me against Idaho. Great help team defense and one on one defense. He can guard any position on the court. He is a freshman, I expect him to have a few off games, but those will be few and far between. He has the "IT" factor and personna which is so hard to find in any athlete, any sport, but he appears to have "IT"! I very much doubt I will be wrong on this kid, then again one never knows.

Well it appears as if the nut hasn't fallen too far from the tree. Here's the bio on his father:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Daye

Indeed. I remember seeing his father play firsthand in Berkeley when he played for a team of which I do not speak. To say the least, Darren Daye was like poetry in motion. He had sufficient aptitude to accomplish nearly any feat whilst in possesion of a baskeball.

For Gonzaga's sake, I hope that the offspring of the above can attain his sire's level of quickness. To date, however, I have been very impressed.

Yeah, wow. Hope he stays past two seasons.

No doubt. I hate to say this, but I think the buzz will calm down once he plays some big time competition. (No, I'm not trying to say anything bad about UM).

Don't know if you noticed Heytvelt at 28 and Pargo at 37. Kinda cool to have three on there, even though it is a "mock"
