Annual Griz Spring Game a success
MISSOULA- The University of Montana Grizzlies' recent spring football game played under their new lights in Washington-Grizzly Stadium set a Football Championship Subdivision attendance record, and the Grizzly Scholarship Association-sponsored event also generated substantial revenue.
There were 8,731 fans in Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday, April 14th and they were treated to an impressive offensive performance. The offense featured four different quarterbacks who combined for 390 passing yards and four touchdowns, while the ground game picked up 155 yards and a TD, for 545 yards of total offense.
The game raised approximately $50,000, with all of the proceeds going toward UM's Athletic Facility Improvement Project.
"The 2012 Grizzly football spring game was a huge success last weekend," said Greg Sundberg, the Executive Director of the GSA. "I would like to thank our GSA volunteers, athletic staff, coaches, and our student-athletes for making it such an awesome event. The lights, attendance, and the weather truly made it a night to remember."
"We look forward to bringing the spring game back to Missoula in a few years, as well as to our 2013 spring football game which will be played in Ronan," Sundberg said.
