Since I can not seem to pull up the other Griz board I will post this here.

************ rumor alert*******************
Originally post else where.

This is how I here it is going down here in Missoula. I hear they've offered Krysko the job, given him until the end of today to take it or decline it, all on the condition of keeping Tinkle, who, undoubtedly, will be anointed head coach when Larry gets bored in 18 months.

Of cource if Larry Declines the job all of this never happened!

Hey Mslacat.

I noted some basic problems with your recent posts:

(1) here vs. Hear
(2) artical vs. Article

But most importantly, what is the basis for this rumor (or smack)?

Go Griz!

Krysko took the job. I hate when people can't give up their source, but I can't. Dang, I sound like John Kerry.

I was pullin for Tinks. I guess you can't win em all.

Despite the unfortunate screen name, MSLACAT is the best source for GRIZ inside hoops info (on this board or the other site) that there is. If he has heard that it is Krysko- then it probably is.

Wow, this is pretty good news. Probably couldn't go wrong either way. I hope we can hang on to Tinkle.

I guess you were all proved right.

Who says you can't come home again?
Larry Krystkowiak, arguably the best men's basketball player the University of Montana has ever produced, will be named the Grizzlies' 25th head coach at a press conference Thursday at 1 p.m.

Sources familiar with the process said Krystkowiak has accepted the job and was to meet with the team Wednesday night.

Contacted via cell phone Wednesday afternoon, Krystkowiak would say only that there is a press conference scheduled for Thursday.

Efforts to reach Montana interim athletic director Marie Porter were unsuccessful.

Krystkowiak will replace Pat Kennedy, who resigned Monday to take the job at Towson University in Baltimore.

Kennedy posted a record of 23-35 in two seasons in Missoula. Current Montana assistant head coach Wayne Tinkle, who also applied for the opening, confirmed that the job had been offered to someone else, but could not say who.

"I've been told they're going in a different direction," Tinkle said.

Tinkle said he had not yet talked to Krystkowiak, but left open the possibility of taking a job on the new staff. Krystkowiak, 39, and Tinkle, 38, were teammates for two seasons in the mid-1980s under head coach Mike Montgomery, although Tinkle redshirted for one of those years.

"As far as my future with the Montana program goes, it's still up in the air," Tinkle said.

This will be Krystkowiak's second tenure as a coach at his alma mater. He served as an assistant to Don Holst from 1998-2000.

I hope Tinkle can stay on also, but I do not like hiring coaches in condition that they keep another coach around.

I would like to see Krysko going out to find the best possible assistant coaches around that will work well with him.

By keeping any existing coaches around, there are chances that disagreements that can sprout out and affect the program. Since Tinkle did not get the job, if all the rumors are true, how well will Krysko and Tinkle work together? I hope the answer to that is good. But....

(anyway i just read the post right before this one and so re-edit. The condition that I just mentioned may not exist, so may not be a problem)
