"Wow!...He's so hot that...that...s-somebody needs to take a litmus test!"

-Altitude Play-by-play announcer commenting on Devon Beitzel's shooting during the first half of the UNC-NAU game.

"And there's a good look at [XXXXXX]"

-Altitude play-by-play announcer, beginning every other sentence.

"It's getting close to desperation time here for Weber."

-Altitude play-by-play guy, as Weber is down by 15 points with a minute left.

Maybe KPAX could hire this guy for football games...he sounds a hell of a lot brighter than Hermes.

"Rogers hits that jumper to cut a six-point lead to...a six point lead."

-Altitude play-by-play guy, teaching arithmetic.

Every now and then I just have to pull some gems out of the hat from Cato "the Cat" Butler. For the younger guys/gals, he used to call the Griz/Bobcat bball games on radio and sometimes did the high school state games too. He was out of Helena, I believe, and quite a character. Included in his bio was an unsuccessful run for governor. Anyhow, here's a couple that I remember from a lot of years ago, mind you, my memory probably has them slightly wrong by now.

"ping pang, walla walla bing bang, for two."

"He broke the bottom right out of the bucket."

And when the game was to the point mentioned above (for example Weber down by 15 with a minute left) my favorite of all -- "that's all there is, there isn't any more; the cat's in the bag and the bag's in the river"

looks like 3 left arms actually. If we could get him on defense Beitzel would never score on the Griz!

Looks as though God may have some rather limited mobility, however.

OTR, I think you have to be as old as you and I to remember Cato Butler. What a riot it was to listen to his version of a basketball game.

I loved Cato the Cat...spent a lot of time in front of the old radio as a youngster listening to his dulcid tones...
