Trent is QB 1 by a long shot currently. Maybe Brez will catch up at some point. He sure seems to have the potential to someday be the starter, but he's not there yet. To bet on Brez passing McKinney by Sept. 1 is really a bet on potential, not on what's currently on the field.
I hope Brez catches up. Given the amount of running these QBs have to do, I really don't see either of them making it through the entire season uninjured. Chances are they both get to start this season.

Does anyone voting for Brez as QB 1 remember how they voted in years past in during fall camp? Did you vote for Gerald Kemp, Jeff Disney, or maybe Brandon Niell?

Yes, i thought Brandon Neil was better than Edwards, and I stand solidly behind that today. Of course, we will never know, so it is your opinion against mine.

How many national title games did Neil play in and/or win?

I don't think he was better, just more healthy at that point of the season. Johnny Montana shouldn't have played against the cats or McNeese with that shoulder. A healthy Edwards is better than Neill. Johnny was hurting bad in both those games.

I just think these discussions about who should start always take on a game show factor of "what's behind door No. 2." It doesn't matter whether the non-frontrunner is truly qualified to start or not, some fans always assume the backup is at least as good as the frontrunner, if not better.

I brought up Disney, Niell and Kemp specifically because many egrizzers, including a few in this thread, insisted they were better than the actual starter, though we really didn't have a lot of proof to back that up.

I remember one poster stating that "Disney threw balls that caught themselves," which turned out not to be the case when Ochs injured his ankle and the Griz needed a good backup. Disney was no Craig Ochs.

Neill, I think should have received the start when Edwards was clearly not 100 percent, but the coaches who saw the two every day disagreed, just like the coaches working with Trent and Brez disagree with the fans weighing in on this poll. Does Timm Rosenbach, a guy who finished seventh in Heisman trophy voting and went on to play in the NFL know something about QBs that egrizzers don't? I'll bet he does.

So Trent works exclusively with the ones. He's the deal you know about. But what's behind door No. 2?

The guy behind door #2 is a much better QB than the starter. Rosey is playing predictable politics with the situation. You don't put a kid who has been paying his dues on a shelf because a new kid in town shows up two weeks ago. McKinney will undoubtedly start the season off as #1. I say he is another Jason Washington, and will not secure that #1 position for long.

By the way, there were more than a few Griz fans who knew that Brandon Neil was better than John Edwards. It was a "business deal" between the grizzly athletic department and Mr. Edwards Sr. We got a shiny new sprint turf, and his kid got to start. Forget all of the "our coaches know more than you know" B.S.

Please Brint. You are starting to dummy-up much too frequently, and your credibility quotient is heading down faster than a new oil rig in Eastern North Dakota! Your response is pathetic, and does not deserve a retort. Posters on Egriz are not as dumb as most Obama supporters, even though you must think they are! :?

That's not "door No. 2" that's some "behind the grassy knoll" shit.

Yeah right dude. I guess that's why 3 of the players on that team that I know all said that Brandon was the better QB.

no growler, brint has a life! E-griz is not one! You might try to find one too!

I seem to remember there was an article quoting Bradon Neil where Brandon said that he was also injured and was in no way in shape or able to play the last several games better than Johnny Montana did?

Some times the coaches don't tell us everything in order to also keep it from the opposition

a good player that doesn't know the playbook is far more counter productive to the team than a fair player who runs the team with everything in the book

Growler I am normally with you on football related topics but you are just plain wrong about that. Edwards was definitely better that Neil. Everyone always thinks the best player is the QB that is on the bench. Kind of like all the people who were yelling for Roper when Selle was playing.

So lets recap.

Mick Delaney, coach of over 40 years and with 4 years in this direct system and Timm Rosenbach, a former QB in the NFL and now current OC know less about who should be the starter in this system than Growler1 who watched an 80 minute scrimmage.

Got it.

You dunce, didn't you read his Mo Club back door preemptive excuse?

It's all politics, not actually based on your skewed, sugarcoater "skill". 8-)

I do stand corrected. Appy is game two. When I first posted and for reason's I can only chalk up to age I thought Liberty was before Appy. Please substitute Liberty for Appy in my previous post. I still think McKinney will be the starter for the first two games and I think he will play well.
