"And how happy are they, Jimmy?"

I'm guess in as assistant under Sonny Lubick and 8 bowl games (in 12 years) at a great FBS program and taking a job as close to Butte as he could get was more appealing. You know I'm sure as an assitant UM coach he still lived in Butte. Not everyone gives in to ambition.

Lets face it. Delaney will be our head coach next season. Not our choice but it is what it is. He will perform better this year (how could he not?) as he has had a year to gear up. He was "thrown" into the job last year with little (zero) time to prepare. He was just begining to enjoy the thought of what retiring means.

I was a critic of Delaney and still blame him in large part for our miserable season last year. He had a good excuse and I agree with it in that he had little time to prepare for the head job. I actually like the man and I felt he did as well as he could. Why will he do better this year? As stated by others the man has had time to sort out the head coaching job. Time has and will have a good impact on how Delaney performs in 2013. That fact along with a good group of returning players will make us much improved for the up coming season.

Can Delaney take us to the promised land? Win the entire thing? Perhaps not. I do not expect that and no one else does. Could it happen? Yes. What I expect is a record of 70% wins or better. I hope for and expect a smarter coaching staff and I fail to see any reason to expect less.

Don't give up on the Griz just yet. Lots and lots of stuff still must play out but I see us coming out of this jungle with a few insect bites but nothing major like fungus rot!
