MBBALL Ament

Jeff is a great GRIZ, the only Montanan in The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame as the bass player and one of the founders of Pearl Jam, one of my favorite all-time rock bands plus one of the great Seattle grunge bands along with Alice In Chains, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, and Jeff has done a lot for Montana kids and families with his generous contributions to skate parks around Montana !!!

Thanks for the deep dive info Captain Google! I saw Kareem Jamar at the game too. Could you give us all a quick rundown of his career? I'd never heard of him until the other night.😃

If you have been around here a while and halfway paying attention, you would not need Google. But he did leave out Big Sandy and Deranged Diction.

And I now realize, Mini Mouse, why you're such a big PJ fan, but that popular song on PJ's new album is not about you--it's titled " Dark Matter" not " Dork Matters."

Sorry 😞 !!!

Know a bit about the band.🙃 I'm really anxious for you to get your snippet on Kareem together. This is the basketball board for God's sake.

Not by a mile. They had their moment, and now have found their place at the middle of the pack.
I don't believe the Eagles are active anymore after their last gig in Las Vegas. Aerosmith, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana no longer active. So if you look at greatest ACTIVE US bands and their legacies it would have to come down to Pearl Jam, Metallica and Foo Fighters. Of course just my opinion.

Having a differing opinion is not allowed.

You're right, Rico, PJ continues to sell out shows and " Dark Matter," was a critical and commercial success and was nominated for several Grammy's. The Rock stations in Billings play a lot of PJ, both old and new: 96.3 The Zone, 105.1, The Bone, and 103.7, The Hawk plus the pop/rock station 106.7, The Planet plays some of PJ's more mellow music.

The older American rock bands continue to just do that, rock, and Green 💚 Day, The Red Hot Chili Peppers 🌶, Foo Fighters, and PJ are not nostalgia acts, and PJ will be kicking off their '25 tour soon. U2, while not American obviously and Cold Play also continue to make some great new music !!!

A rebuilt Nirvana is playing some shows with guest singers, like Post Malone, and Alice In Chains is rumored to working on a new album--would love to hear it and see them in concert !!!

As you can tell, I love to rock !!!

And Jeff Ament is not just a great GRIZ but also a historical figure in rock not only as one of the founders of PJ along with Stone Gossard that actually brought Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready into PJ and eventually Matt Cameron as well from Soundgarden but his pre-PJ work in Mother Love Bone and after MLB's singer Andrew Wood's death due to a heroin ovetdose, his collaboration with the late, great Chris Cornell and Cameron of Soundgarden in the Temple of The Dog's best-selling album of the same name to honor their friend Wood in which Jeff and Stone, members of MLB, brought in Eddie to sing backup vocals to Chris and some lead as well, and PJ was formed soon thereafter, 1990. ( Matt Cameron joined PJ as their drummer after Soundgarden's first breakup in 1997.)

On a personal note, Mike McCready has both Crohn's and UC, ulcerative colitis and PJ has performed several benefit concerts for CCFA, The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Despite a lot of advances in mainly medicine therapies, Crohn's and UC still kill thousands of Americans every year (Glenn Fry, co-founder with Don Henley of The Eagles, died in 2016 technically of pneumonia but the pneumonia was a result of Glenn taking humira to combat his acute UC as well as rheumatoid arthritis. Humira, as well as newer drugs like rinvoq, skyrizzi, and entyvio, almost completely suppress the immune system which is both good and bad, and unfortunately this suppression allowed the pneumonia to kill Glenn.) I have severe Crohn's disease, have been struggling with it this morning, Mike really struggles at times with both Crohn's and UC, including on tour, and I and my fellow " Chronie's " really appreciate PJ's efforts for us to raise $ for the research into new therapies and treatments for Crohn's and UC !!!

*Alice ‘N Chains 👍🏻

Ament is a good dude and serviceable bass player— a la Michael Anthony only way more chill. Pearl Jam is of course at this point legendary. Politics notwithstanding.

Layne Staley did go with Alice N' Chains when he and Jerry Cantrell started the band in Seattle in 1987, but they soon changed the name formally to " Alice In Chains," and in fact their third album ( 1995) is titled, " Alice In Chains." ( Obviously, using either will very probably mean the listener knows you're talking about one of Seattle's 4 great grunge bands.)

Soundgarden was closest to PJ, given the collaboration of the late and I do mean great Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron with Jeff and Stone on " Temple of The Dog," to honor Chris' roommate and Jeff and Stone's band mate Andrew Wood who had died of a heroin overdose just as Mother Love Bone released their first and only album, and "Temple of The Dog" also brought Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready into the picture to work on the TOD album. A pretty good argument can be made that if Andrew Wood hadn't OD'd, there would have been no PJ, who were originally " Mookie Blaylock," named after their favorite Seattle Supersonics' player but also already the name of a really good black jazz pianist
, thus " Mookie Blaylock" became Pearl Jam.
