Alter. Mens and Womens Cat / Griz locations

For the last few years, the UM and MSU athletic departments have been able to schedule the Cat/Griz Men's and Women's games in the same week-end in the same city. Personally I have loved this, it has made for some great week ends for a basketball nut like myself. This last year the Big Sky conference took total control of all conference scheduling. They created the schedule that we are now working under, and it has this week end the Women playing in Bozeman and the men in Missoula. Like wise on the 10th and 11th of February it will be reversed. Now from what I hear UM and MSU could have had the home teams slightly rearranged to set up both team at the same campus on the same week-end IF both schools agreed to it. Binford, Tinkle, and Huse all tried to get this to happen, but Selvig was the guy who really shut the thing down. I hear he does not like the both Cat / Griz game on the same campus at the same time. If true, does anyone know what his objection to this arrangement is.

When Lady Griz are home and Griz are away, that means Lady Griz are the high light of the weekend. But when both are home same week, then Lady Griz become second fiddle to the men's.

Maybe that is what Selvig is thinking. If that is the case, he certainly has support from attendance figures showing Lady Griz do not deserve to be second fiddle. They are both about even when it comes to attendance.

If this is not what Selvig is thinking, then I don't know his reasons. I like it when both are hosted in same city same weekend, one game on friday night and next on saturday night. Attendance is usually higher for both.

Something else someone pointed out to me is that classes have not started yet at UM, so if Selvig was to switch he might not the student support, as he will later in the season. That makes some sence.
