The difference is and will be that JJ is an extremely accurate passer and McKinney is the 2nd best running back we have on our roster.

Our passing game wont get that much better until we play Northern Colorado. Get used to a lot more of Saturdays games as far as passing is concerned.
maybe you can tell me what you base this on? Because TM has been every bit as ACCURATE through his first 3 starts this year as JJ was last year(early season)....and you cant say JJs freshaman year impressed you (based on accuracey..or anything for that fact) Dont get me wrong...If trent improves as much as JJ did...we will be in for a great season...BUT for some reason you dont see this happening...maybe you can tell me what you saw in TMs early starts that he CANT and WONT improve.......while JJ turned into a stud after similar starts, and alpha dont tell me JJ didnt miss some easy passes in his first 3 starts.

Now its your turn to tell me why.

and im not sure but something tells me you just like to "jerk echains"

PS thanks for the moonshine, that was powerful haha.

JJ's completion percentage was skewed because he threw it away if nothing was open down field. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only game where JJ really tried to force things was towards the end of the Ballsac game.
I remember 4 INTs in that sac st game...and they werent all in the end trying to force it, and that game was never really in desperation time till the final mins...it was over a year ago so i could be slightly mistaken....i just dont see a huge reason to beleive TM cant improve much like JJ did. like somebody said earlier, if you can name almost EVERY single pass...that isnt too bad......even though that was similiar with a few JJ games..Alpha would blame it on receivers or something else but NEVER blame JJ, and definatly never count and name every incomplet pass.

all i wanna know is why some people dont think trent can evolve and become a great player. remember JJ really came into his own and seriously hit his stride during the weber game last year...trent is a first time stater and a young kid, he is going to grow up, continue to play well and improve.

so basically if JJ didnt throw the ball 5 rows up when nothing was down field he would have been 90%? 85% im confused?

if nothing is down field but trent misses a pass where he tries to sneek somehting in..make a play...as long as that ball isnt picked off or a HORRIABLE decision( i remember one bad decision while under serious pressure)...what is so different than just chucking it into the stands...and dont get me wrong, i liked JJ...i just dont see any reason TM cant be a good qb in this system

Mckinney can be a "good" QB in this system. I am not so sure he will be great. I hope he improves his accuracy because the offense will need it. But accuracy is something that doesnt happen over night, if ever.......ask Swogger, Roper, ect.

I ask this question, If Mckinney had a great and accurate arm, do you think Montana would have ever had a shot to land him?? No effing way. He's too good on his feet. I want to see this kid succeed really bad. He just needs to work on the down field passing. Hopefully it develops.

Anyone know what Brezerckeszzks passing completion %, and YPG were in high school?? I really don't want to look it up.

Boy, I wish Vinny had possessed even half the wheels, and mobility that Trent has. We sure could have used it back in 1985. Hell it maybe it would have prevented him from throwing those five picks against Penn st. in the title game in 1986.

The title of this thead is fitting because almost a year ago (after last year's Cal Poly game) i came on here and claimed that i witnessed the greatest PASSING DRIVE by the griz since at least Ochs. If you remember, we kinda sucked the first half of that CP game. But after halftime, JJ was given the reins and dominated CP with the pass. I was very hesitant to get over excited but could not help myself; i hadn't seen that type of accuracy in a loooong time.
So, when I hear people talk about how JJ didn't have "it" until weber, i think that's wrong. He had it from the start (possibly birth) but the play calling changed that week is all. TM unfortunately does not appear to have it and likely wont get it by game 7, or possibly ever. TM has a lot of great qb qualities, some even better than JJ, including a bigger arm which should make Mayor McWillberger happy. Personally, i'd take accuracy over strength anyday.
When it comes to accuracy, TM doesn't have the touch like JJ. Doesn't mean TM can't be a good qb like Jonny MT or Berquist but i don't expect him to carry us on his arm, at least not this year (hopefully i'm wrong). He can still be efficient in this O under trained circumstances. Like anything else, if you practice it enuf you'll get good. But when the play breaks down, that is when TM's accuracy is evident. You can't practice for that. JJ's improv accuracy was second only to DD in my eyes.
