All Conf Picks - lots of Griz

Cotton 2nd team and Poly's Koski 1st team at WR is a joke.

Glad to see a lot of Griz on this list though.

I'm guessing overall stats control this more than actual body of work, so missing time is probably a killer. Which also tells me there is a certain amount of laziness involved in making the picks.

Don’t the coaches vote? I don’t think overall stats are the main factor. Should Sneed have gotten first or second team votes from each team when he had great teams or player of the week? How could he not have done better?

The coaches do vote and that's why this system is SO FLAWED. Every coach in the league literally does not prepare for four other teams in the league each year. They might see them on film. But they aren't studying personnel etc. Also, there's all sorts of equity and other political drama that goes into this. For example, Coach Hauck might've used up a significant amount of time on the conference call lobbying for Dante Olson to get Defensive MVP and in turn not had as much time to promote Sneed as a winner, who, in my opinion, CERTAINLY deserved All-Big Sky over ever QB in the league except maybe Kevin Thomson. Another example: Jeff Choate used so much of his time arguing for Troy Andersen as a first-team all-league offensive player last season that all his defensive linemen got second-team all-conference.

These lists are the single most flawed thing the Big Sky puts out. It's just not even a debate that Samori Toure, Sammy Akem, Jeff Cotton from Idaho, Pierre Williams from Sac State and Brandon Porter from NAU are better wide receivers than J.J. Koski. There's just no debate. They are better in every single measure of judging wide receiver play.

George Obinna and Bryce Sterk have almost as many sacks this season (13.5) as Jonah Williams has in his career. Case closed. There are many people out there, including many people in the state of Montana, that watch a greater variety of Big Sky Conference football than the actually coaches. So frustrating.

I'm not sure but it seems anybody who missed time wasn't considered as highly regardless of how they did in the games they played so you have to wonder.

I am mostly fine with the Griz picks, except Sneed.

I think Sneed and Barriere were 1 and 1A at QB this year, yet EB is 3rd team and Sneed is left off...head scratcher....

I think Cookus received the “you’ve been playing at NAU for 10 years” bump...

They probably based it on missing two games and statistics -which is really lame! He was on pace-before the injury-to be a Payton Award finalist! More anti-Griz sentiment from the coaches! Thomson is deserving of first team, but Dalton should be at least 2nd! Although, I think he’s probably happier with just being in the brackets as a six seed! Mr. Cookus and Mr. Berierre will be watching the playoffs from their 2nd team and 3rd team sofas!

When you don't play every team in the conference, it's very hard to be fair. How do you decide on kids you didn't even get to play?

I was just listening to your show on the radio, and I heard you mention that co-champs get 4 slots each for offense and defense? What happens when 5 teams are co-champs? Perhaps ridiculous, but it was certainly a possibility going in to the last weekend.

Coaches and conference officials didn't want to deal with a final meltdown.

Mallory isn’t there? He changed entire O-line play for Griz this year. For a transfer to make immediate impact on a teams weak area was impressive.

That special place on a fictional conference all-something team and $8 will usually buy you a straight cup of coffee at Tulley's. Bring on the real national awards.

Griz had 3 offensive linemen on the lists, and so did the cats...let that sink in. The difference between those lines is stark.

Mallory addition would have given the Griz 4. No.

But, wouldn't have surprised me given the fraud that is these lists.

This also. Lewis Kidd should have been for sure 1st team.

Thomson kicked our butt.

Cotton looked good against us; 6 catches for 98. Had 17 catches for 223 in their finale.
