All but one conference profitable after CFP playoff

A $14m weight room/football center is nothing compared to other FBS schools. Not even having any existing plan for an indoor facility puts UM far behind even the worst cold-weather FBS programs. I'm sorry if some of you don't see this reality. Facility-wise, UM will is at the bottom of FBS programs right now. It's not even debatable. That doesn't even take into account coaching salaries. Utah State pays Matt Wells over $700k/year, and if he has success, he will move to a better job. How is UM going to be able to pay a decent coaching staff up to or over $1m a year in increased salaries in order to even be at the low end of the FBS spectrum?

Pictures don't lie. And unless the assistant AD is lying to my face, an indoor facility IS in the plans. And Missoula is hardly a "cold weather" program....It ain't Fargo.

Wyoming's facilities are pretty new.. and they're adding a $44million addition onto the current athletics center. Montana's new facilities won't be able to even touch what UW is going to do.

Forgot about Wyoming's updates. Those facilities are going to be top notch.

That's kinda like spending 10k on wheels and tires only to put it on a Kia Sorento...

So, future additions/construction can be used in terms of quality of facilities, today?

You talking about the Griz or Wyoming? Because we're not currently IN the MWC...but in 2 years we'll have MWC-level facilities.

I keep reading about the possible IPF as one of the reasons why the Griz could be in the MWC. Just wondering if other teams could use future plans as current facilities.

Sure, why not.

As an example, I have it on good authority that Coach Ron Ash regularly tells recruits that in two years, the program will be able to afford this guy to suck the turd logs out of the "natural spring" behind the litter box.

Seriously, Kool. Do you honestly believe staffs aren't constantly talking to recruits, as well as the administration from other conferences, about their planned improvements?

It was an honest question.

The planned, funded, and currently underway projects will, when complete, put us on par with current MWC teams' facilities. We are not now IN the MWC, not will we be in the next several years, so it's a bit of a moot point, wouldn't you say.

In two years UM still won't have an indoor practice facility. Although, according to you, UM doesn't need one, since Missoula isn't "cold weather." Good luck telling warm-weather recruits that when they walk into the IPFs in Boise, Laramie, Moscow (dome), and Pullman, as a comparison. Also, if an IPF isn't needed, why is one in the planning stages? Seems like a waste of money that could be used to upgrade classrooms on campus, rather than blowing $15m on an unnecessary IPF.

Then tell them that coaching staff has stability when UM coaches are making less money than every other school in the conference, barring some huge yearly donation. It would break the bank for UM to even get to MWC levels in overall facilities and coaching salaries, yet the other MWC schools would accept an underfunded university with declining enrollment, next to zero national imprint, and escalating debt for ... for what reason, exactly?

The GCC is not "underway," other than funds are still being solicited to match the Washington boys' $7m and a contingency "financing plan" is in place, which is basically UM borrowing money and paying it back later with interest. There hasn't even been a ribbon-cutting ceremony at this point. Until that project is completely funded, and not reliant on potential "self-generating financing" to repay any loans/bonds that cover the remaining cost, the IPF is a pipe dream. I can imagine the GCC starting to be built next fall, but the odds of it being self-funded by completion, unless Kevin and Kyle donate the rest, don't seem great, since the financing plan will need to be in place before a general contractor takes on the project.

Um... AZ didn't anywhere say that the GCC is "underway". He said "planned, funded, and currently underway projects"...

UM Athletics Academic Center = Underway
UM Grizzly Champions Center = Funding in process. GCC goal to be completed by the 2017 season.
UM Football Practice Field = Planned

When all is said and done in the next few years, Montana's facilities are going to be light years ahead of the rest of the Big Sky.

That's awesome! They will still be near the bottom of the MWC, which is the point.

........tell us where state college will be with the big M on the side of the buildings attempting to mislead recruits that you are actually the University of Montana?

I assume MSU will do what they always tell recruits. Come and get a degree in business, science, or engineering (fields that actually matter, hence MSU's enrollment booming while UM's is declining), have a great 4-5 years in a place you'll never forget, and play for a football team that makes the FCS playoffs more often than not, and typically gets at least one home game for the playoffs.

What's UM going to tell players they are recruiting to Missoula if they're in the MWC?

"We have plans! Plans, I tell you!! Nevermind Wyoming's fancy-smancy $45m dollar athletic center!"

"Indoor practice facility? What are you talking about? Missoula isn't a cold-weather city! We don't need some waste of space. It doesn't get cold here!"

Also, there is no "Big M" on the sides of building on either the MSU or UM campuses. I wouldn't expect you to know this, though. :thumb:

Please NWF, if possible, please respectfully agree to disagree. These threads are getting tiresome with rehashing same things over and over. Thank you

I'm offering substantive, legitimate concerns, and other than you, I'm not receiving anything other than insults in return. If I reply back with an insult, isn't that fair game? There are no "Ms" on all of the buildings in either Bozeman or Missoula, and you know this to be true.

I'm embarrassed for you cohorts here. They don't have to respond to me, do they? You can blame me, I suppose, but I find the MWC thoughts to be so unrealistic that I can't believe these posters are being serious.
