What would make it the largest sports story? If MSU actually does the right thing and fires the guy? We still don’t know if that’s not the route they’re choosing right? I think they’re just making sure they don’t get sued before they can the coach.

Perhaps. But why not suspend them with pay? Do you believe they deserved a contract extension and a pay raise??

No def not. But yeah I guess they could do what you’ve suggested. I’m just saying I’m sure the university is looking at this from a legal standpoint. Not necessarily a moral one.

Can you identify a bigger one from our state?

Sadly probably when the cats made the championship. Outside of that not sure. I don’t live in state anymore.

Or, Gameday coming to Bozeman, or Troy Andersen, or Tommy Mellott exploding onto the scene, or.....

Those were all great things for sure. And overall in my view I can't remember a more exciting time to be a Bobcat.

All that said, right now, as we're about to enter THIS season, I don't know how anyone could say this isn't the biggest sports related story in the state. All we have are the Cats and Griz. When either of them do anything, positive or negative, it is almost always the biggest sports related story in the state.

I mean, we literally have both our DC AND our OC under suspicion of DUI. That's unheard of. It's like a movie, but we let the guys on this board write the script. It looks absolutely ridiculous and the only thing that bothers me more than the allegations themselves, if the fact that we decided to give Mr. 3DUI a raise this offseason. Again, it's like we're letting Griz fans make these decisions just to see how bad they can make us look. It looks awful.

I said before but who I really feel for is our players. They don't deserve these kind of distractions entering a season where we have legitimate championship aspirations. In the world of sports I almost expect players to do crap like this. Many are just young dumb kids and don't really think about consequences of their actions all of the time. But to have not one, but TWO coaches, offensive and defensive coordinators to boot, to put their selfish stupid choices above the team, makes me want to pull my hair out.

I thought Trey Anderson was only a story like two years ago when he got his shit pushed in by a true frosh in Missoula. Gameday said it was their most miserable show ever. Tommy’s head exploded twice, but the MSU staff forced him out there anyway.

All of those things were stories in past seasons. This season, it’s all about the ridiculous and indefensible decision making by the leadership at MSU. 🤮 fucking trash.

Yep, I get all that. I'm not happy with any of it, but nothing any of us do or say will have any impact. The only part I think was handled incorrectly is they should have been suspended with pay until the legal proceedings play out. Firing them on the spot is not a good option. So..... I have no idea why the administration chose to leave them on and not suspended while we learn all the details from the legal proceedings. I'm sure Waded knows what she's doing, but we'll see.

Yours is a great post, but the nightmare for Bobfans must be that their own leadership is writing the script. It has to be infuriating for a reasonable fan like yourself to hear “no comment” and see the local media be so “Alright, cool. No big deal.” At the very least, I would want decisions made before fall camp if I were in your shoes.

Heard through the Butte grapevine that Ol' Tommy wasn't too happy about it, either, but did his duty (because he is a great kid). Now is not very comfortable stepping out there heading in to the season, and has lost some faith in his coaches.

Good head on those shoulders. I genuinely hope they protect it. Brain injuries are really ugly and scary.

That’s absolutely horrible, and, if true, WAY worse than the HC’s decision to keep the alleged drunks/spoliators of evidence on staff just to try to win. Wait, the HC isn’t allowed to make decisions according to Bobfans. The Grandmalike Empress allegedly runs the program.

Trotting a kid out there who has reservations about brain health is Bud Kilmer level insanity. I give that program a lot of shit in good fun, but I swear if it’s true that he didn’t want to play and they made him, they should be investigated and burned to the ground. Super fucked up stuff seems to be going on. 🤢 🤮

I mean, I'm not saying they FORCED him. But you know how it can be. A little pressure on a kid that age goes a long way. I don't have all the details. It just came up randomly in conversation that he isn't too happy to go back there and I was really surprised.

Good post. You guys talking about this stuff on your board? When was the last post on your board?

Truth is most of your peers could give 2 craps about this...

Thanks for the discussion in a thread you started on an anonymous fan message board seeking whatever. If you want me to stop calling you out HERE on this subject, it’s easy, put it in writing (or I guess stop bringing it up).

I get that you make more money on audio traffic because Griz fans are literally stuck in traffic, that’s awesome. I don’t listen and neither do 99% of the people I know. Good on ya tho. Go Griz. FTC, amirite?

But to me personally and everyone I know, it might as well be a fart in the wind. An echo in the shower. Means nothing. You keep saying you could spill the banks of English on this subject and write all kinds of stuff. Ok, let’s hear it. You seem to have the time and I guarantee we will read it.

If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen. Everyone knows that, and that’s how it’s swept under the rug. No record; never happened.

You say it was covered already? Where are the links? Maybe with your agreement, you can make a sticky? Would be nice to have a complete story, or a comprehensive picture. I can’t believe I have to put all this together piecemeal myself.

If it was so extensively covered already, where are the police reports? What is the status of all three cases? There’s been a few news updates on some but I have no idea what’s going on with Mix. You don’t need MSdUi’s access to ask these questions. Every bub cat I know says we “don’t know all the facts”. Good grief that’s basically all MSDUI has said. Would be nice to know.

Did you know MSdUi gave that dude a raise? Did you know he had a hearing scheduled last month? Egriz was the only place that covered it—Ha! It’s even Your Go To Source

I bet you're a blast at parties.

I cannot speak to that, really.

But there's certainly plenty of evidence that MsdUi coaches get blasted at parties.

Would you expect a local sports news company holding itself out as “an independent news-gathering website covering the Big Sky Conference with more depth, breadth and passion than anyone in the West” to write at least one article about it?

They don't do "news." They analyze the news...even if there isn't any...

Their "CEO" is the "director of creativity." Seriously- WTF is that, anyway?

They aren't going to do anything that might put their access in jeopardy. That's the bottom line.

Dude needs a disclaimer for his disclaimer:

“Covering the Big Sky Conference with more depth, breadth and passion than anyone in the West*

*except Egriz……. Or when it negatively impacts the bubcatz.”

I think that’s the sad truth. MSU and The Great Leader control the media in Bozeman, it seems. The deep, broad[,] and passionate simply have their hands tied.

Maybe, like his favorite team, he believes his depth is better than the starters. So, maybe there was no typo, and there was no need for an Oxford comma, and just like the meme, his backups names are Breadth and Passion, and both are working hard on putting out a written article as we speak.

Can you imagine if ole Sixx shooter really did have to answer some tough questions from some real reporters?

[Passion:] Hey coach, with two prior DUIs and a recruiting infraction, why did you guys give him a fourth chance?

[Coach 6:] Ah yes, “No comment.”

[Coach 6 to someone off air:] How many “No comments” do I get again? …Uh-huh. And the one phone-a-friend, right?… Ok.

[Breadth:] Coach, other than a knifing in Havre, does your staff have any other connection to MT?

[Coach 6:] Good question. Thanks for asking one I can answer: no, none.

[Passion:] Circling back to my line of questioning, after giving this guy a fourth chance, you also gave him a raise after his arrest. Why?

[Coach 6:] Yes! Thank you for finally asking that, I’m going to direct you to this little, sweet lady who hardly speaks English, thinks footballs are supposed to be round, and makes all the decisions in our locker room…..
