Ah Yat

Too-early-analysis based on too-few-examples but his mechanics looked good. More time at college game speed needed to correct a few judgment mistakes.

Remember, Brian had a redshirt year of practice reps/weight room and a redshirt freshman year of reps from the middle of the 3rd quarter on (shared with Josh P) in 1995, including 3 of 4 games in the playoffs. Lots of meaningful experience before winning his first game as a starter against Oregon State in 1996.

Kind of surprised Ah Yat didn’t get into the game with 5-7 minutes to go after the back breaker. Really no reason to keep Cliff in at that point with the game in hand. We saw Childs and a little X, but none of the backup receivers or QB (that I noticed).

For anyone still wondering about how to pronounce "Keali'i", listen to how his father pronounces it in this video from a year ago:

Maybe someone can pass it on to our announcers, too. ;)

For anyone wondering how to pronounce any of the Grizzly names, just go to the official Montana Griz football page and they have a 👂 sign next to their name on the roster. Click it and hear it straight from the horses mouth.

I don't know how many legacy players the Griz have had over the years, but he sure seems like one of the best. Such a fun story. And his name is challenging but it's not that hard. Hawaiian names are just different than what we're used to. Go try to pronounce that Danny U guy's last name from MSU. Keali'i Is easy compared to that lol.

That is so good to see! I was impressed with his brief performance and have high hopes for his future. Although I worry his talent could make him a transfer target with large NIL potential, I hope his family ties to UM and his father Brian’s love of UM’s tradition keeps him here for his entire college career.
