Awesome play!
Why was he moved to DE? Any particular reason given? I've heard "depth" but I guess I don't get it. The argument could be made that he would provide better "depth" at LB which seems like his natural position, better fit for his size, would get him on the field more often, etc

+1

I've wondered that too, but honestly, now that I've seen the Griz' linebackers for five games, I don't think he'd be any farther up the depth chart. Strahm, Scheye and Sock would all still be ahead of him. Addison Owen is starting to remind me of a Jeff Larson. A really good athlete, great even, who just didn't quite fit perfectly at any one FCS position.

absolutely......blocked punt today showed his speed and ability to play the ball. gamboa was outstanding today. would like to see owen get more playing time than on special teams.

We've had a few players over the years that coaches just couldn't quite find the right position to play. Unfortunately, Addison falls into this camp - too bad because he is a great athlete. The linebacker position requires a bit more responsibility and overall grasp of the defensive scheme. Defensive end is technically a simpler position where you play contain or rush the quarterback. My best guess is that the coaches were looking to simplify the game for Addison.
