Geez, if the cupboard is bare, I can't wait to see all the great players the Griz have when its full. I thought Ellis Henderson was easily the best WR on the field Saturday. It's not his fault no one can throw him the ball. I thought the Griz were better at every position on the O-Line. Only Josh Harris isn't coming back on defense, plus the Griz supposedly have the greatest safety never to play at Montana in Connor Lebsock coming off injury next season. Shaw SHOULD be the best punter in the Big Sky, since he must have punted 4,000 times this season, and Jordan Canada will be the feature back next season. Cupboard bare? I just don't see it.

Having said that, the QB position is a mess at Montana, and what scares me about this coaching staff is EGO. Them thinking they are good enough coaches to make SSH into a true zone read QB somehow, or them thinking they are good enough coaches to make TM into a downfield passer somehow, or on and and on. Part of it is, as many have pointed out is, the Griz don't seem to even be set on an offense, let alone have a true FCS caliber starting QB. IF the Griz keep the true zone read spread for next season, somebody better BEG Bryan Bennett to really transfer here! IF, they fully revamp the O and go back to more of a Bobby-Ball spread offense, then put Gus in there, let Canada be the feature back and see what happens.

Agreed, almost 100%. We are going to have a dynamic duo in Canada/Counts at RB, our offense (outside of QB is loaded) and our defense returns almost in its entirety. We are a QB, a safety and a corner away from being a national semifinal team again. The cupboard isn't empty....but that IS three very big holes.

I still think you need a better RB too.

Be honest with yourselves fellas. The cupboard is empty compared to the other Big Sky schools and Griz teams of the past. Our coaches must upgrade their recruiting efforts or we could have many bad seasons in our future.
There were two positions where the scats were better...qb and head coach, and that's scary cause Ash taint that good...

I was mistaken in thinking that Haslam would grow some brass ones and deal with this problem. Here was his opportunity to place his stamp on the program and he wiffed.

I said no to this douche bag of an ad. What happened? Everyone started shit talking me. And this shit happened multiple times this year. People crap talkin me before the resuslts then saying the same shit I did after the results. God this place is great.

ArizonaGrizFan....How do our wide receivers compare to the top 6 teams in the Big Sky? How do they compare to the Griz teams of the last 20 years? Do we have a qb that would start for a top 25 FCS team? Do we have a real stud returning running back with speed?

Action of today by the AD should not be a surpise to anyone. President and a certain member of Board of Regents are maing the decisions and there is now no question in my mind that the intent is to de-empahsize athletics just as was the intent when I was at UM in the mid-60's. Delaney is a good guy but has no business coaching not only at age 70 but with a less than stellar record while at Western and that is his extent of head coaching experience. I have said in other posts that UM is well on its way to losing its standing as the prestige University in the State. MSU has already surpassed us in football and if allowed to continue the way things are going other athletic programs will soon be second rate to be followed by academics and the downturn will be complete. MSU has a President who not only is aggressive but she is also forward thinking and a visionary and that is certainlyh not the case with our President. Now gratned things need to be cleaned up but you do not need to decimate an entire University to accomplish that feat. There is something going on here that many of us may not be aware of, otherwise why would a President and others purposely screw up a program that has not had a losing season for many decades?? We need some straight answers.

You do realize that Haslam has little to no say in the matter right? Delaney was hired before Haslam was AD. Delaney was given a 2 year contract before Haslam was AD.

Even if Haslam wanted to change coaches now, he couldn't do it. Engstrom calls the shots, and we also don't have the bucks to buy out Delaney's contract.

I don't like it either, but Haslam's hands are most likely tied on this matter.

Now if we go 5-6 again or something like that next year, and another contract extension is offered to Delaney, you'll probably find many people on your side about Haslam.

Right now though it's too early to tell...

excuse me, but the letter makes this sound like a coup, as if dozens of schools are lined up to lure our coach away, and we have managed, against all odds, to keep him here; in what alternate universe do these guys live?; you can't teach an old dog new tricks and our coach is a really old dog; your friend, yogi

Maybe a dumb question but what would motivate engstrom or williams to ruin the athletic dept? It seems quite obvious that its a cash cow. It seems obvious it helps with enrollment. They're own advancements would come into question if they were in fact such small thinkers and hurt the athletic dept. in some kind of "conspiracy." What in fact would they accomplish?

He has just proven that he is a tool for Engstrom. Get used to losing; bringing Booger and the funky bunch back will set this program back for years.

Tgriz, you do realize almost every assistant on the Griz staff was hired by Pflugrad, do you not?

and it is your opinion that Pflugrad would've allowed the timid defensive scheme, and let the offense stagnate like it did?

Pflugrad was/is an excellent offensive play designer...think even back to the Griz/Bobcat game in 2010.
Even at the loss to EWU that year, the EWU defense did not know where the ball was coming from. Having Moore/Kemp in at the same time with PN was very successful and they went away from it on Saturday.

No stubbins, but ALOT of people on here think this staff came after Pflu was fired. But I will say this, when you look at Pflu's quotes on Rosie back when he was hired, he does seem to suggest Rosie was going to call plays for him. But then again, ALOT of people think coaches always lie to the media so who knows.
