Man, do none of you guys remember poor old Grizo? Just trying to keep his spirit alive...

Hadn't seen him in a while. I figured you were just carrying on the tradition for him.

Aaaand.... De-railed!

Kidding. I thing Stitt goes for broke on this one. Too much excitement in the air to call a conservative game. As for the rest... I think that having NDSU on game 1 will afford us the best opportunity to pull off a win. A mid-season NDSU is a much different beast that an early season one. I don't care who you are, there is rust, there is kinks, and the chances for mistakes are higher. I know thats a double edged sword, and the Griz have the same if not greater uncertainty surrounding them. It's just the best opportunity.

That being said, this game, to me is a toss-up. NDSU is a juggernaut, however they are playing in Missoula. While I think that they will be unperturbed by the venue and crowd, there is an energy in WaGriz that is hard to deny. NDSU may be unaffected, but a resurgent Griz team with the crowd on their side may have the horses to pull of an upset.

Montana Game Keys:
Consistent drives, TDs not field goals, implementation of the up-tempo offense, limit the run game. If we force NDSU into a one dimensional team that has to pass, we stand a much better chance of pulling it off. These guys would much rather grind it out a beat up the defense with the run. It's what they were built for and what they do well (hell, it's helped them win a million national championships). By forcing them away from that, their offense will not be anywhere near as effective.

Of course that's far easier said than done. Just my two cents. I think the stars definitely have to align for a win, but it will be a hell of a game!

Pretty decent analysis.

The offensive holding in the 1st post is invalid.

It all starts in the trenches and that will be where the game will be won. If NDSU can establish the line of scrimmage and get the running game going then they will have a good day.

If the Bison defense cannot slow down the Griz version of the spread then the Griz will have a good day.

I'm looking forward to watching the Bison OL vs Griz DL. This could be the best OL ever at NDSU, now can they prove it in WGS.[/quote
It's VERY valid. Watch last year's game and if you are at all objective you can count at least 30 rather obvious holds by the ndsu Online. Not discrediting that because if it ain't called it ain't holding. But if they do call holding as it should be called,it WILL affect how ndsu plays

Actually, I thing Larson is wrong. There have been some good football posts lately. To me this game is simple, if NDSU gets their 300+ yards rushing, the Griz have very little chance for a win. Maybe Gus can get a few bombs for TDs like he has in fall camp but if the Bison
Run the ball and control the TOP they'll walk out of WG Stadium with the win....

It would be nice to have refs that know what they're doing.

Is replay set up for this game, or just the BSC games?

We will have replay for this game (don't remember the source, but we will have it)

Well that can't hurt, that and being on national TV might make them actually try for a change.

  Wow, where did you get all the insight CDA? I would never think someone could know so much about how football works. But then you redeem yourself by writing about the holding, so carry on with the sarcasm for now.

NDSU lives by the run. They must die by it. If they end up having to pass after falling behind...we have a chance.

Or if we are close in the fourth quarter we have a chance.

Or If we can execute on both sides plus special teams we have a chance.

Today I feel we must perform well in the passing game, if so, I think we can run a bit and have a chance.

If we start out trying to run....but start passing right away we have a chance.

I think we have a chance!

#1 NDSU going to the passing game wont faze the top rated fcs draft prospect Carson Wentz

#2 NDSU will ground & pound, its going to happen so just sit back & enjoy it ;)

#3 NDSU doesn't care how it looks like, or how it gets done, all they want is a WIN, period.

I try to keep it all about Xs and Os around here. :thumb:

Griz can't even get the ball from the Center to the QB without screwing it up...so I don't see how they could win by more than 10...

It will all come down to:

Turnovers
Field position
Points scored
Points given up
Time of possession
Rushing yards allowed
Number of plays run
Loudness and cold
Pre-game meal walk through
DOLA
Heart
Deer in the headlights look
Fire
Number of kids from strong/good families
Montana players on the roster
Garçon Wrench
300 yards
90 offensive plays
Extra points versus two point conversions
Defense wins championships
Most points wins
Contradictions
Mike Kramer telling it like he imagines it is
Coach Ron Ash
Jimmy John's
