Actual Football discussion Griz vs NDSU

Grabbing of the jersey is holding, even if it is done right by the armpit area, and on the sleeve of the jersey, it is a hold, watch them closely, they may not hold a guy and take them to the ground, but the quick hold and then let go right as the RB goes past is what NDSU is sneaky about.

NDSU has ran the same scheme run block wise for 10 years now, and over 100 games, i'm pretty sure we've never been called for holding for more than 2-3 times a game. So you're gonna have to start believing that NDSU DOESNT HOLD!

Im curious about Montana's 6 7 QB getting off a pass without a 7 step drop with NDSU DE's & blitzing LB's coming at him. watch for that match up early.

Did you say 7-step drop?

Holy Christ, that's funny.

No shit, 7 of his steps would put him in the Albertsons parking lot.

Ha! I hadn't even thought of it that way, but it's very true. I was referring more to the fact that I highly doubt there's a single play in Stitt's offense that includes a 7-step drop. This ain't a fucking pro-set offense, in any way, shape or form.

Laugh all you want, and the 7-step sh*t is pretty funny, but I assure you that Gus will be picking himself off the turf much more than he would like on Saturday...... Just sayin'.

I think the officials will play a part in the game, if they call NDSU for holding on the outside of the offensive line even half the time that they do it, we will have a better chance in stopping their run game. Every game I have ever seen them play that get away with a ton of holding. If our offense can get us a lead right away in the game and we are ahead at halftime, I can see the Griz pulling off the upset. A big special teams play is also going to be needed.
I always find this to be interesting when people say it about the Bison. If one team is consistently holding and getting away with it. No matter which refs they have, no matter who they're playing. Well, figure out how they're doing it, and start teaching it. Because it's obviously NOT holding if it doesn't get called as often as people claim it happens. Hey, coaches if you think it's true, figure out what they're technique is. I think it's a technique that is taught. Can't be sure, but in watching many games over the last few years. I really think they have a unique style of blocking using leverage and time that they are able to control the defender.

I am assuming it is taught too, there is not way around it. So if it is indeed taught, holding is in violation of the rules, and most coaches are not going to teach something that is outside of the rules. So maybe only NDSU has a coaching staff that is coaching players on the art of holding. Sounds like a move Bill Belicheck would be proud of.

Looking back on last season, in all games, the lack of holding calls against the players blocking Zack, was laughable, I bet he was held on half the plays last season.

I am not trying to insinuate that NDSU is cheating by learning how to get away with holding, but the refs need to have it brought to their attention before, during, and probably after the game too!

Yeah, they held their way to 4 straight National Championships. Wish we could hold like that!

I say 7 step drop because he'll be running for his life, so its pretty plausible it'll be 7 steps.

I also would like to know how your special teams are, NDSU notoriously have amazing special teams.

Well of course they do. I mean everything about UNDSU is ama-za-zing...

Without looking it up, do you know how many sacks NDSU had against the woeful Griz offensive line last year?

Pay no attention to this guy! He was banned from Bisonvile.. I met him on the plane to the first NC game. He is even a bigger jerk in person. He does not represent NDSU fan base. We all dislike him, as much as one can dislike a person. :bs: :bs: Whoever can make the adjustments after the half will win this game. The first offensive series after the half is a good indicator in who gets the W.

You need to read up on the rules and stop this gobbledygook

There it is.....no that is not correct. As another poster said, read up on your rules.

I guess the 2 games with B12 ref. & 3 with B1G ref. don't know what holding is?

What will be funny is when the bison lose they'll complain about the officiating. I hope this as good a game as its being advertised as. Both teams will come out the better.

Has the griz 2-deep been confirmed anywhere yet?

The weekly game release used to be available sometime on Tuesday before the next game. It is not up yet. Don't know if it will still be done that way with the change in coach and SID. Mick mentioned that he saw the 2-deep on the radio show today. At least we know it exists.

Columbus silverback apparently is a grade A wuss. im on bisonville , if I met you on a plane than you must not of been in 1st class with me lil boy.

back to the NDSU-Griz game. NDSU usually starts out slow, so don't get too excited if its only 10-7 ndsu at halftime.
