I'm all about taking the blame or whatever, but honestly when it's 24-10, put it to the floor. Better yet wait till up 40 to let up. I'd much rather see a 54-7 game then a 24-17 game. Just light everyone up and call it good. less pressure on the Defense. Just my opinion.
At one point in the 4th quarter we were trying to burn clock and SDSU was trying to save time and we were still snapping the ball with 15 or more seconds on the clock and they were snapping the ball at around 10 seconds left on the clock. I have never seen anything like that.
If you are going conservative you would think you would slow down and run more clock?
On this I agree. Either run your offense, or burn clock. But don't go conservative and NOT burn clock. Self defeating...
Well, I've been pointing this out since Cal Poly and comparing that to the touted "4th Q Strategy." Exactly what is the point of
trying to settle for a close win? The so-called "conservative" play calling has backfired several times this season, and becomes all the more perplexing when Coach Stitt tries to justify his "offensive strategy" in 3rd quarters by "reacting to what the other side is doing,"
which is an interesting way to describe an "offense."
And when these odd strategies backfire, well, Makena "just isn't up to the task" and "we can't use all our plays," or Brady "just missed a few throws" or was overthrowing too much. The fact is, the QBs seem to start to foul up when Stitt changes "strategies," whether between quarters or between games. Then we end up with a close game; toss a coin as to whether it is a win or loss.
Indeed, of the six games won or lost by ten points or less, the win/loss margin is 50/50 -- the perfect statistical tie.
