A YEAR OF GRIZ DOMINANCE OVER cats

Bozeman NBC sports director Kane O"Neil:

"The schools released the Brawl of the Wild series (first ever) results. It was a year to forget for msu. The Griz easily won this year by the score of 14-3.

The bobcats looked to be on the right track at the beginning of the series leading 2-1 after Nov 2, but the wheels came off and fast after that, dropping the next 11 head to head match-ups. The biggest of course was the cat/Griz football game, which was worth 2 points. The bobcats next point wouldn't come until May 17th at the BSC Championships in Flagstaff, AZ where the msu men grabbed a point, but the Montana women would outscore the bobcats ladies to even that right out. So the 1st Brawl of the Wild trophy is indeed heading to Missoula."

FINAL SCORE -----------------------> 14 to 3

Montana's dominance was even greater when you figure in the club sports, UM baseball spanked msu a couple times...and didn't Montana Lacrosse (sp?) beat msu as well?

The Bobbies are gonna lose interest in this competition real fast. After the next two or three years of serious whoopings they are gonna lobby to end it all together. I predict the kitties NEVER win...as in never, ever, ever.

a few years back, msu didn't beat UM at ANYthing all year, until the very final event, which was men's tennis. msu edged the Griz by one point to avoid a complete sports sweep.

Agreed. After about 5 years the papers will stop publishing the results.

To be frank, besides indoor track (because they have one), they don't have one program which is on par with UM's program. I know I'm biased as a Griz fan, but I welcome any Cat fan to argue that one of their programs other than indoor track is better than UM's.

Rodeo?

Of course, that's mainly because UofM doesn't have a rodeo team.

I'd still count it as a win. :D

Careful, you'll have poorgriz coming over here saying that the cat football program is on the rise, there has been a changing of the guard, and the cats are now the class of Montana.

Well, we are on the rise IMO, but as far as a changing of the guard - I can't exactly say that, but if you think your football program has been dominating us lately... not.

I would say Cross country and Track are "on par" with UM. And yes....We did get our taints handed to us by you guys last year.

That's a good point. In most years I'd agree with you, Sac. In fact, those programs are probably stronger in any given year at MSU than they are UM.

Don't forget the Cat's have just dominated in Bean Bag competition lately........especially the throw event.

The changing of the guard was brought up by the Bozeman paper the morning of the 2011 Griz cat game. The cats were ranked #1 and the talk was all about the changing of the guard and the passing of the torch, but it didn't all go as planned!

As for lately, what part of getting your asses handed to you at home by your bitter rival by two touchdowns not a dominating win??? Seriously. Do you need to get beat by 4 touchdowns or what?

If by bean bag you mean academics, then you are correct. Let's not forget that um has embarrassed the ENTIRE conference by being the only school with a team on probation.

I see on bobcatnation.com Colter is doing a pretty cool thing for the cats. He is making a program that will feature stories and pictures of cat football. Making 25,000 copies and giving them away for free. Thing is he is looking for sponsors/advertisers to help support this. You can buy a page. I'm thinking eGriz should team up and buy a page ad in the bobcat publication. How hilarious would that be to have a full page that says Go Griz! If we all throw in 20 bucks this shouldn't be hard.

So you think UM has been dominating MSU over the past five years or so?

Yes, especially given where the two teams have been ranked in recent years going in.

Add to the fact that MSU barely won in 2010 and 2012 while the Griz dominated their wins like they always do. MSU should consider themselves fortunate that Montana had two down years because that's the only way they have a chance at beating Montana.
