A tip of the hat from an OPSU fan

The buses rolled in to Goodwell, OK a little after 2 am this morning after a big exciting trip and experience for our football team. This was an awkward mismatch from the day it was scheduled, the current AD's and Coaches from both programs really would have preferred it not have happened, but in the end it worked out alright.

Our players had a good trip and had the opportunity to play in probably the coolest stadium in front of the biggest crowd most of them will ever experience. A tip of the hat goes to Delaney for putting the backups in early. It may not have been the match up the fans were looking for, but I hope the playing time the backups got benefit the Montana program. At the least it may have helped you in the kicking game.

The Aggie team came away with a great experience, were very impressed with your team, your fans, all the people they met, and the state of Montana. You earned some new fans from "no mans land", the Oklahoma Panhandle.

We are pulling for you this year.
Go Griz!

Your team played hard, and they should hold their heads high! I hope the Aggies win out the rest of their games this year! :thumb:

Aside from 2 players who decided to talk trash to the crowd in the 4th quarter, the whole team carried themselves very well and fought hard the whole game. Didnt appear either team suffered any injuries, so that is always a plus in a game like this.

Good luck the rest of the season!

Happy to hear they made it home safely. That is one long bus ride. Wonder how long it took to straighten out they're legs? Good luck moving forward.

Thanks Aggie. You were a good poster from day one, and your team impressed me. In only their second year at the DII level, there's definitely some skill there to be leveraged. Good luck to you the rest of the way.

Does anyone know how many fans they brought? I've never seen the visitor section completely empty before but I know they could have been all over the stadium. Can't honestly blame them for not bringing 600 people but wondering how many came up.

Hopefully the Aggies enjoyed their trip! And best of luck to them on their endeavors.
AggieMan, don't be a stranger around here! You're a knowledgable poster and a welcomed guest over here.

Thanks, Aggieman, for all your kind comments. Hope your son will always have some pleasant memories of his trip to WaGriz. Good luck to the Aggies the rest of the season.

Even AggieMan gets it!

Some game pictures at the following link. http://mtmediaplus.com/montana-grizzlies-football-2013/nggallery/montana-grizzlies-football-2013/montana-grizzlies-vs-oklahoma-panhandle-aggies" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We all clap for the opposing teams as they are leaving the field up through the tunnel. As we were applauding one of your players was blowing kisses to the Montana crowd and the applause got louder. We appreciate you visiting Montana, your good sportsmanship and wish you the best in your season.

It's always a pleasure to play against teams that have quality fan bases. You are welcome to come visit Montana any time you want. Let us know when you're coming up and we'll show you around. Thanks for the kind words! :thumb:

Your players are classy as well. They played hard until the end and #7 has some dance moves and some good one liners. Not that it will happen again but if it does, the AD's need to throw in plane tickets too. 18-20 hours on a bus is torture and I can't imagine any football team playing their best after that kind of ride.

Thanks for the great post, AggieMan.

I was impressed with your team, you guys have got some good players and coaches. Thanks for making the trip and playing hard, I appreciate it. There is no doubt, with some time, OPSU will become a very good D2 school. Your coach wants to become a power (at that level), I feel he'll get it done. Good luck going forward!

I would guess a handful at most, apart from folks associated with the school admin or staff. I did notice that the photos on OPSU athletic site might have been taken by one of the coaches wives.....at least the names match up. My son is on the team and he told me there were no OPSU parents that came. We tried to make arrangements, but work got in the way. I am sure that is the case with many others. It is tough traveling to see all the games. This one was in a beautiful place, but time and money make some of the closer games a bit easier. Thanks for making the team feel welcome and appreciated in our stead!

Thanks for everything, it has been fun. I will drop off and let you talk smack about the Big Sky and those goofy Bobcats.......how can they lose to SFA and still be highly ranked?????

I might stop by later in the season as playoffs loom. I know some kids that are SHSU BearKats and follow them when I can. Maybe the BearKats and Grizzlies will meet on down the line.

Best of luck this year.

Best of luck to OPSU... And you, Sir, are a class act... Follow this board and post as much as you want... I'm sure nobody disagrees with that

Go OPSU
