A Shout Out To a Sioux Falls South Dakota Reporter

Great publicity for The University of Montana and Montana Grizzlies in eastern South Dakota, northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska, and southwest Minnesota. It's a great area to recruit - Chad Greenway, Trey and Bryce Lance, Matt Hermanson, and many more who I have never known or have forgotten, have all come out of this area.

This is a great article that captures the very essence of WaGriz, Griz Football, and Griz Nation.
WaGriz is indeed a very special place. I had the good fortune to attend a few games in the beginnings of the stadium including the first Griz Cat Game listening to the crowd chant " bye bye Dave" at then MSU Coach Dave Arnold. Eventually he laughed and waved back.
I took my young family there and the cheer leaders gave my kids a mini Griz football. Before the game we walked the campus and I shared my memories of attending the University and graduating in 1975.
There were other games as well. One of the most memorable involved sitting on our deck in Billings watching the air traffic overhead. I pointed out a bright yellow plane overhead and wondered where it was headed. Flight traffic told me it originated in Monmouth NJ heading for... Missoula Montana. " Hey, " I said, " how would you like to go to a football game? I'll see if I can get tickets."
My wife is from TN and hand never attended an event the size of that Griz game. She was hooked.
We were there for the kickoff sitting in the nosebleed seats in the Majestic Plaza. I enjoyed watching the game but the view of the mountains in the distance has remained with me and will forever.
Age and illness has taken its toll and I may have attended my last game at WaGriz. But returning one more time is really high if not the very top of my bucket list. " The days are long but the years are short."
