if we're to believe the results of last summer's a.a.u. tournaments, a state that has produced exceptional women's basketball talent over the past 20 years is about to produce its best crop of recruits ever--tinkle, tilleman, hurley, tolbert, selvig...the list goes on, and on. it's no secret the major programs are wise to montana talent, and now the university of washington just announced that loree payne, one of our state's all-time best high school players, has just been named an assistant coach at her alma mater, u dub.

coincidence?

I don't think it is really any different than Shannon coaching at UM. Loree is the 2nd all time leading scorer there and with a coaching change it makes sense to get someone with some roots to the glory days of UW women's basketball. :twocents:

Maybe UM should go out and hire a former Montana super star in on its basketball staff, or better yet hire a relivitive of one or more of the girls as coaches.

What about Selvig?

Seriously, you guy's have so many in's with these girls, that if they are able to be convinced to not go "Big Time" you will get them.

Selvig would have Tinks do his dirty work. :thumb:

True, there are "ins" as you call them, but more importantly, there is a program that has a coach who is quickly approaching 700 wins.

Selvig and other members of his coaching staff where in phoenix this last weekend scouting and guess who won the tournament Big Sky Hoops yes the team made up of Hurley, Tinkle, Tillman, Hill, Crum, Sullivan, Anderson, Foster, Petit (sp) and others. I heard Selvig got some great news over the weekend.
