RE/MAX: Someone tell me when the real Griz show up, I don't recognize these guys

PR: Refs suck

RE/MAX: So does our rebounding... for now

RE/MAX: That's BS, they knock Young over, no call, then the Weber guy flops on a screen... offensive foul

PR: 6 or 7 bad calls so far

PR: We are coming back
* this was said with about 4 minutes left in the 1st half

PR: Remember So Dak St playoff game
* this was said as the 1st half ended

RE/MAX: Is Mariani playing in the 2nd half? Haha, they need to settle down and just play their game

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking of the SDSU-UM game during the entire first half.

I love how no matter how bad the Griz are playing PR says it isn't their fault. The refs didn't cause the Griz to have 13 TOs in the first half when they only average 11 in a whole game. 1st half the Griz were pissing down their legs. 2nd half AJ played amazing and wouldn't let them lose. Only other guy IMO that had a decent game was Selvig. Qvalue turned the ball over way too much and Cherry didn't do much.

Proper decorum prevents me from posting my first half texts on a family board.

That's pretty much the reason I didn't post anything on Egriz after the first half :) That and I probably would've broke the keyboard while 'angry typing'.

I was just hoping they'd be able to put a little run on Weber and make it respectable. Instead they come out and play great defense, crash the boards hard, and AJ takes over the game offensively.

That performance by AJ and the huge comeback win on the road are getting a lot of attention on ESPN and on Twitter. Great exposure for the Griz! :)

I like Andy Katz's twitter (on ESPN's college basketball page):
"Montana one of the more underrated passionate basketball schools. Montana and Robert Morris win titles on road tonight. Impressive." "Wow. What a performance by Anthony Johnson. 42 points. Montana down 20 to Weber State and wins in Ogden. Love Wayne Tinkle. Great guy."

Did you really think the Griz wouldn't come back and try to make it a game? I thought the Griz would come back. I really did.

The Griz were playing reasonably well in the first half. They missed some open shots. They had 3 calls where they apparently stepped out of bounds, but not bad plays. There were two bad traveling calls by the refs. They had too many turnovers, but most weren't horrible plays. Weber was playing very well, and hit some early 3-pointers. They looked unbeatable in some respects, but I knew they couldn't do that for the whole game. No team can, and I had seen that they weren't unbeatable when the Griz trounced them in Missoula. The ball was bouncing to Weber on all of the missed shots and loose balls. Weber was hustling and in position, but the Griz weren't loafing. From about 2 minutes to 10 minutes, the refs had more than a half dozen bad calls. Multiple times the Weber player stepped into contact, and got the call, but the contact was very minor. They gave Weber 3 early fouls that were completely undeserved. Fortunately, Weber was missing some freethrows.

I truly thought the Griz would come back. They weren't playing poorly. They were playing hard. I knew they wanted to win badly. I knew they had heart. I had seen that AJ was had said yesterday in the paper that it was "destiny". The Griz were not backing down. Everyone was playing hard. They just needed some breaks and some spurts. They got stops early in the second half. Weber wasn't nearly as good or as focused. The Griz got some shots to drop. Suddenly, they were in it, and it was a battle. And during this time, AJ took over. You could see that he was going to make play after play and make shots. His shots were dropping, even with some bouncing to get in. He was focused and on fire. Weber was tightening up. They couldn't play offense. They weren't as good on defense. On a Griz possession in perhaps 5 minutes to go, AJ took the ball from Cherry between the Weber free throw line and midcourt. I assume AJ said give me the ball, and Will was saavy enough to just flip the ball to AJ.

Hats off the AJ, the team and the coaches. Great win. I can see I need to re-arrange my schedule for the next game.

I can't even tell you how excited I am for the team, and how proud I am of their season and their win. They must be special guys.

Did anyone notice that during the 4 minutes that Stockton played in the second half, UM went from down 14 to down 4?

From the Missoulian article. I felt the same way.

"Johnson insisted that even down by 20 points at halftime, he thought the Griz were still in the game.

"Nobody hung their heads, including the coaching staff," Johnson said. "Nobody had a negative mind frame. We remained positive, we remained optimistic and we went out and got it done, possession after possession after possession, minute after minute."

That was an interesting sub by Tinkle. Stockton didn't do a lot if you only focus on the stat page, but he didn't make mistakes, and he played hard. He also bought some time for Cherry who had foul trouble. Taylor struggled a little, Tinks gave Stockton a shot, turned out to be a good move on his part.
