Bobby won't be at UNLV by the time this is completed.. unless he's a coordinator on a staff at another MW school.

What makes you so sure? You in on meetings between AD Livengood & UNLV Pres. Smastrek? You a fly on the wall in Livengood's office?

I would think several consecutive 2-10 seasons, plus getting housed by your in-state rival every year would quickly show you the door. Hauck has been given a pretty long leash, esp considering he's on his 3rd offensive coordinator since he started. One more 2-10 season, with what appears to be one winnable game next season (at home vs. Western Illinois) and UNLV will be checking out Monster.com to see who their next coach is going to be. If you'd like I can continue beating you over the head with statistics.
Meanwhile Christiensen is doing a GREAT job turning around Wyoming

I would love it if Engstrom is ousted, Delaney retires, and our new HC be Pflu or BH.

Then watch EGRIZ erupt like never before.

Yes, I know this will likely not happen, but man would it ever be fun and interesting on EGRIZ!

The entertainment value would be priceless. Imagine all the insanity, and how many mods would need to be added? If Pflu came back, how would the Pflu bet be worked or brought back?

If BH came back, would grizzola survive the excitement. Would Alpha officially resign his GRIZ fandom, would he be banned and become a new version of growler1? Would alpha and growler1 agree to be get a long and be on the same team now? How many prepared posts would PR have in advance to defend the players and Hauck? Would Bobcat fans be pissed off again, to have the coach back here that hated them most?

Hell yes, BRING HAUCK BACK!!!!!!

I'm all for it. Our teams now lack the toughness that they had under BH. Our teams under BH just physically beat teams up and they would just fold in the 4th quarter. It wasn't as fun to watch as the Read teams but was equally as effective. Bottom line is WIN and Bobby did just that. I miss the bonus that was 3 additional home (playoffs) games that you could almost bank on every season. But the best part was how bad the cats hated him and believe me the hatred was returned 10 fold by BH. He was an ass to the media, much like Belichick, and I loved that also. I would take him back in a heartbeat!

It's too bad we can't make that choice, huh!??!

We didn't win the National Championship with BH as HC, but it was A LOT OF FUN gettin' there, and having those playoff games at home!!!

Hauck could bring the Rebels back this fall, and continue the new winning ways. NC in another five years, and yearly thereafter until he retires. Not likely, but could. When excavating the site for the stadium, they could find Jimmy Hoffa's remains. Could get odds on these events, after all, it is Vegas.

I don't understand your comment. Two bowl games in 3 years and the recruits coming in are infinitely better than any recruit Joe Glenn had in his 8 years at Wyoming. Meanwhile, you continue to talk about things you don't know. Stick to commenting about Griz football, you're fairly intelligent when speaking about it. :twocents:

I would welcome BH back too. The one caveat being, if anyone(s) could prove to me his players were as bad as some say here. Until I see the proof, I am 100% behind him. He did care of issues quickly when they were serious. Seriously, if things were as bad as some say, he is magic for making them disappear. Hell he is in Las Vegas now, and things have been clean off the field.

If BH had been here instead of Pflu, Engstrom would have fired him. Engstrom wanted to clean house of what he thought was a corrupted program. No way would Engstrom hire BH back, even if BH applied to return. This is my take on the situation.

Of course, BH returning is all fantasy, anyway. I agree BH is a damned good coach & hated to see him go, despite the hatred several on this board have for him. And, the fact that UNLV has been clean re: off-field conduct while BH has been there, to me it's a sign that AD Livengood will not tolerate some things BH did while at UM. I think Livengood's quick firing of Gregorak drove that point home.

UNLV because of it's location in "Sin City," has to be super vigilant re: off-field conduct of its players. Even with a "clean" program, the media will be all over UNLV just for this reason, if UNLV starts getting nationally ranked. I remember the Tarkanian days & the shroud around the basketball program when UNLV was winning. OOPS!!! I forgot. This is about the UNLV program & shouldn't be in this forum. My bad.

I hope BH will be there when the real turn-around of that program happens: building the new, on-campus stadium, just like WaGriz turned around UM's program. Then, Hauck will have his pick of clean, talented players and will win like he did at UM.

Seems to me if they were building this for a SB, they'd have a capacity greater than the 60K planned. The article only says, "These new events might include a Mountain West Conference football championship game, a new college football bowl game, a NFL exhibition game....," as far as football is concerned. Go LOL somewhere else.

That stadium could use an over haul or be completely re-done. Its exactly like everything else in vegas, if its not on the strip, it isn't kept up-to-date or clean. It would be good for the football team but more importantly the university. It would get more butts in the seats and attract recruits as well...as long as the football team improves.

I will personally guarantee that I would never let Hauck come back and coach my Griz.

This year the PAC 12 is hosting the PAC 12 basketball tourney in Las Vegas!

I bet that LV is hoping if this stadium is built it may very well host the PAC 12 football championship game. LV is a pretty easy and fun destination for any PAC 12 conference member and fan base. It would put the game in a nuteral location and make it a little more of a special event. I bet ol Larry Scott being the PAC 12 commish has been in talks about this. Only makes sense really especially seeing the Bball tourney behing hosted there.

Also this may be a far stretch but at some point the PAC 12 will expand and this stadium and market just may appeal to the PAC 12 in a few years. Heck I remember people saying a few years ago that Utah would not even be considered for the PAC 12. Well they were wrong!

We know flash sell and a stadium like this might even draw some more college football talent to UNLV. If that happens they might be putting a few more butts in seats if winning improves!

I see this as being a win win for LV if it gets done.

They should put the football field in the middle of a giant casino and instead of chairs have slot machines and poker tables facing the field on tiers. Game attendance would soar. The Runnin' Rebs would still suck (regardless of coach).

Will the day ever come when Bobby Hauck is no longer discussed on this board?

Yeah. About the time when no other former coach, former assistant, former AD, former player, or former whatever are not mentioned on this board. That time will come the day the website shuts down.

News flash: a thread with "Hauck" in the title is probably about him. Don't click on it or reply. If any subject were so unpopular, the thread would die.

Article in LV Sun paper: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jan/19/ray-brewer-unlv-now-question-and-answer/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's a quote from it:

"Why build this for UNLV football, when it struggles to draw even 10,000 fans?

First, and most important, this is not a stadium solely for UNLV football. It’s a mega-events center the Rebels will call home. Regardless, it’s a big-time score for the program, sending a message nationally that UNLV is serious about its team. Rebel football is a sleeping giant. Students rarely attend games at Sam Boyd Stadium because of transportation difficulties, but with the on-campus stadium they likely would have a significant presence at home football games. Plus, folks will show once the team starts winning, and the new stadium gives the football program the ability to quickly transform into a winner."

UNLV has its coach & staff. Now, it needs to get the players. To get those players, it needs the new stadium. It's Washington/Grizzly Stadium, all over again. Bobby Hauck is in a helluva good place & he knew that before signing on. UNLV knew it had a helluva coach in BH. That's why it signed him. That's why it sticks w/ him. A good future for Bobby Hauck & I wish him well.

One of the comments on the article answers a put-down of the UNLV football program w/ this: "Step outside of you're little 'UNLV Football Sucks' bubble." I suggest Titleist, et al., do too. Of course, any Cowboy hates to see this. ;)
