A little roster update

No, I have no one in mind. I don't think Idaho and Sac. State did either. But, unlike Montana, who always uses a sham "national search" to hire a coach, when they know in advance who they will hire, we should conduct a legit national search like these teams did. I get a kick out of you fans who seem to think that we could never attract a head coach better than Hauck. He failed miserably at his big FBS coaching opportunity. Notice he never got any other offers to coach a FBS team after UNLV.
The fact is, the Montana head football job would be the most coveted FCS job in the country, due to our facilities, stadium, fan base, etc. There are plenty of great young coaches who would jump at the chance to be our head coach.
But here is a reality check for all Griz fans....... the Montana head coaching position will never be a destination position. Every coach worth his whistle wants to be an FBS coach. Therefore, we can count on hiring a great coach, having him for a few years of winning (hopefully a NC too), then losing him to an FBS school.
What we have now in Hauck is a coach who won enough here to get his FBS job....... failed there...... then came back to us to "retire-in-place" here. Some of you, like Hoops and Kem, try to spin this as a positive. However, when you allow a head coach to have zero pressure to perform, he will become a mediocre head coach. When I read statements that Bobby has more power within the athletic department than his boss, Haslam, then we have a real problem. It seems obvious that there is a vast difference in Bobby's attitude towards winning in this 2.0 edition. He is now philosophic about losing..... which would never had happened in Bobby 1.0. Think about it.
Finally, the plummeting of our football program is a direct result of allowing the boosters to run the football program. It never works.
"plummeting of our football program" So you have us at the UNC level. Got it. You are a joke.

The joke is in your hand. You played on 2-8 Montana teams, so you know all about participation trophies up close and personal. No Griz fan with a brain is happy with Hauck's performance.

I absolutely think we could attract a better coach than Bobby if/when he's not our coach anymore.

I also think we could easily hire someone who's worse, too.

I just get a kick out of you guys that are convinced it would be so easy to find someone better, but you don't have anyone in mind. I'd probably take you a lot more seriously if you did, instead of the constant "anyone but Bobby" attitude.

Although your M.O is and has always been "anyone but whoever is currently coaching the Griz".

Stupid post. Par for the course for you. So, I'm supposed to have a coach in mind for a true national search. Maybe nick Sabin, or Kirby Smart? Go back to sleep, Skippy.

Only an irresponsible AD wouldn't have a list of potential replacement candidates that gets updated each season. Hauck ran out the door within hours of his last championship appearance. Today, there are any number of reasons a coach could move on or be shown the door pretty quickly. I would hope Kent doesn't get caught flat-foot when the time comes.

Haslam knows very well that BH plans to be here another 5 years. That could be longer than Haslam.

Actually, every Griz fan with any knowledge of the game or program is happy to have Bobby here.

Do you even believe all the stupid stuff you say?

Feel free to come up with some examples of a better coach for the Griz. Someone who would or might come. I bet you can't come up with one good name.

With the Portal, it's even more important to have a list and find a new coach quickly. Otherwise, there's a big risk of players leaving.

So, BH "plans" to be here 5 years? Nice. You are admitting that Hauck has more power than Haslam. What if Hauck keeps stepping on his hooter with 5th place finishes? Will Haslam allow Hauck to tell him how long he wants to be here?

Of course not. But other than people like you, who have a very disturbing amount of hate for your favorite team's football coach, nobody thinks that we will continue to have years just like last year. The trend is up, it was one down year and major steps have been taken to make sure it won't happen again.

Last year was an aberration. Nobody thinks we will move to a downward trend now. Buck up, find a little joy. You're gonna drive yourself to an early grave with all this online hating. Don't die mad, go enjoy your life.

I recognize that sound, its a pickle skidding across the alley after falling while running from the back door of a local bar.

Your schtick is so old and worn I can only laugh at your pathetic inability to post anything else, and that you seem to live on this board. Every post of yours screams you have no life. Pathetic. Just, pathetic.

You should see his other social media. He is just an angry old man who lives online arguing with people. Which is a real shame. He has the means to enjoy his life far more than spending it like this.

It sounds like there is a great story about an alley, though....

You clearly don’t understand how college athletics work at an institution with fairly big boosters. Haslam doesn’t have “power”. He has decision making abilities based on “when” boosters give him pressure or a coach exits involuntarily because of behavior/performance or a better job. There is absolutely no reason to get rid of Hauck. He has brought stability back to a floundering program and this year will prove why the boosters and Haslam have stayed the course. MSU’s basketball program just got decimated when their coach left. Not worth the risk because some unrealistic fan wants to win every single year. You are a moron if you think someone else would have picked up the pieces faster than Hauck. It takes time to rebuild a program. He has done it and one tough year isn’t evidence that the program is heading in the wrong direction. Wake up.

If you think BH or Boosters have more power than the Administration you really are stupid. BH will not be retained if this season is anything like last season.

I don't understand why some are so dead set on hating Bobby Hauck that they take the worst season since he returned, and assume every season will be that bad in the future.

And given his experience, I'm guessing that's what Kent is hopeful of. So what you're saying is it's all good until the end of year five, then it will be time to get busy? That's a sweet deal, but then again, you're likely right given who's calling the shots.
